The Co-op’s founders were inspired to create Lichen due to the growing disconnect they felt between design work and traditional governance models.

CONFERENCE 2025 SESSION SPOTLIGHT


 Participatory Governance: The Multicultural Health Brokers (MCHB) Co-op Experience

Date: Wednesday, November 19, 3:00 - 4:30 pm


Participatory governance is embedded in the cooperative model where members participate in decision-making in the organization. This session engages participants in exploring ways by which democratic participation can be enriched and strengthened within the context of cultural and linguistic diversity. Members of the Multicultural Health Brokers (MCHB) Co-op in Edmonton will share their experience and insights in fostering participatory capacities with over a hundred co-op members from 35 culturally and linguistically diverse communities.



TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS HELP WITH CO-OP CONVERSIONS

Technical assistance grants were critical to helping two worker co-ops navigate a complex process.
