August 2018
Student and Volunteer Celebration
We had a wonderful evening celebrating the many accomplishments of our students and volunteers. Thank you to Asheley Kotis and Painted Plate Catering for providing a delicious dinner and West Market Street United Methodist Church for their continued partnership and for providing us with a lovely space. Thanks to First Baptist Church of High Point for providing buses for our students, Bruce Hargrove and Kerry Jones for driving the buses, and Julissa Cardona for taking photos of our event. Some lucky guests even left with a gift certificate from Clyde Brown and SmallCakes Cupcakery & Creamery.

There was a lot to celebrate as 79 students and volunteers accumulated over 100 hours instruction over the past year! Trophies were given to Students of the Year and bookmarks were given to Volunteers of the Year. If you have not attended one of these events, please make plans to attend next summer. To view all of the photos, visit our Facebook page.

  • We served 907 adult students and 124 children
  • 60% of full-time students advanced an adult literacy level (2-3 grade levels)
  • Students received a total of 23,641 hours of instruction
  • We served 319 volunteers
  • Volunteer tutors provided 13,577 hours of service
  • 32 students got a job
  • 28 students got their driver's license
  • 11 students passed the U.S. citizen test

Congratulations to all of our students and volunteers for all of their efforts. We look forward to celebrating many more accomplishments this year.
