If you haven’t already, I encourage you to check out our new online hub for family child care educators. There you can find updates about joining upcoming virtual meetings, policy efforts, and more. You can also access the latest resources and information about the COVID-19 pandemic and tips for self care and wellness.
For everyone who has visited, do you have thoughts about what’s working well on the hub and what could be better? We’d love to hear from you! You can share feedback by sending an email to [email protected]. Keep an eye out for a survey inviting you to share feedback about All Our Kin’s work, including the hub and this newsletter.
Also, we want to inform you that starting this Friday, June 4th, through the end of August, our virtual offices will be open from 9-1p on Fridays, to give our staff more flexibility during the summer months.

Child Care Stabilization Funds |
All licensed family child care educators are eligible to receive Ready SET Rebuild child care stabilization funds to help recover from Covid-19. In order to apply for these funds, you must have a supplier ID number. You will not receive an application without one. All applications have been sent. If you have not received an application or supplier ID, or if you want to check on the status of your supplier ID, call United Way 211 at 1-800-505-1000, email [email protected] or visit here. OEC Guidance on FCC Waiver, Health and Safety Protocols |
Connecticut’s declared state of emergency comes to an end on July 20, 2021. The waiver that allowed FCC providers to care for additional school age children who were in remote learning will end on June 30, 2021. The OEC released Memo #41, with guidance on the current status of requirements and health and safety recommendations. Learn more about how this will impact you as a family child care educator here. (Note: The OEC continues to strongly recommend that providers wear masks and continue modified health and safety practices despite the easing of Covid-19 restrictions).

The OEC is launching a new parent cabinet for families and caregivers. This advisory group will provide guidance on programs and policies. It would be great to have parents representing family child care participate. Please feel free to share this opportunity with parents and encourage them to apply by June 28th. Supporting Black Families
The State Education and Resource Center is holding a virtual Affinity Space for families who identify as Black or African American on Thursday, June 10th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. The conversation will focus on continuing the work to affirm the role of the Black family and the beauty of Blackness for our children.

Last Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder by Minneapolis police. In the words of Ibram X. Kendi, one of America’s foremost historians and leading antiracist scholars:
“A year ago, a human being who loved was treated like a monster who hates - when racism is the real monster that hates humanity. But we will continue to fight the monster in his honor. Rest in our resistance, George Floyd.”

We know that this is an especially painful time in our country, and we stand with every member of the All Our Kin community who is grieving, exhausted, or alone. The National Museum of African American History & Culture highlights the value of self care at this moment and always:
“When we listen to our bodies, hearts, and minds, and consider input from trusted friends, we can find resiliency and renew our lives and work.”
