Upper School News
Dear Upper School Families -

This week, we had a lovely visit from M. Camara (former French teacher at Roycemore). Excellent timing since the French III class that he visited was actually studying the History of French speaking African countries. He shared with the students his personal experiences (currently he works with NGOs in West Africa) and his knowledge about life in his country, Senegal. Thanks to him! French students also enjoyed a visit to the Field Museum and some cajun-creole food at Heaven on Seven, lucky ducks!

Upcoming information and events:

Final JST Deadline
JST submission time is almost at an end. The group project deadline is Monday, November 11. Please remember that group projects are first come - first serve, with some faculty projects already closed. All information needed to complete paperwork can be found at  http://www.roycemoreschool.org/jst . If you have any questions, please contact Bill Horine at bhorine @roycemoreschool.org  immediately.

2nd Midquarters: Friday 11/15
Next week brings us to the close of the 2nd Midquarter of the year. Teachers will once again compile grades for the midpoint of the quarter and send home any needed reports. Reports will be emailed out the following week. One quick note here: for this Midquarter, all 9th graders and new students will not automatically receive a report for all classes - only for those where a check-in is necessary.

Adobe and Northwestern Creative Jam, November 15th
Roycemore will be the 1st High School in the world to host a Creative Jam!
Creative Jams are Adobe events where local design thought leaders share a behind-the-scenes peek into their processes and projects. Teams compete in a tournament-style event that puts their creative skills to the test using Adobe Creative Cloud products. Roycemore is proud to partner with Adobe and Northwestern University to embark on this quest to host the first Creative Jam for High School students. What an amazing opportunity for our students!

Parents' Night out-PJs and Polar Express, November 15th from 6-9pm

Grandparents and Special Friends Day: Tuesday 11/26

The event will take place from 8:30-11am and will feature performances by the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School Choirs and Tumblers.  This year we have added an inter-generational panel discussion for our Middle and Upper School grandparents and friends. Project Linus
Many of you know the great project this is and the wonderful work Project Linus has done. As a school, we tie blankets during a portion of Wassail. In order to do this, we need to cut the blankets into rectangles and then fringe the ends. The directions are simple and require a person to be able to measure and cut in a straight line. If you or anyone you know can help Ms. Byrnes get these blankets prepared, we would be so grateful. Please let her know if you would like to volunteer: kbrynes@roycemoreschool.org
