On August 9th 2022, Ding Ding TV had nearly 40 people join our Music Video recording. This song is created for Civic Leadership Forum Silicon Valley’s “Stop Asian Hate series” as the theme song. We’ll play and invite people to sing at each event, it also can be used for the multicultural community “Stop Asian Hate” activities. Together we deliver the message “All of Us Belong Right Here” to Stop The Hate.

The music video is for the song “All of Us Belong Right Here”, written by Joel Wong, the chair of Asian Americans United, and produced by Silicon Valley Community Media, Ding Ding TV, to deliver the message to our community:

“America’s great because we’re diverse,
America can lead the world,
Because we’re from every part of our world!
All of us belong right here!”

Thanks to the production team, the parents and kids, and our community leaders.

California is taking steps to address the recent rise in hate incidents against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).

The Governor has signed the historic Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Equity Budget included in a fiscal bill approved by the Legislature last month. The API Equity Budget is sponsored by the API Legislative Caucus, which is leading efforts to address systemic racism and discrimination in their communities.

Since the start of the pandemic, xenophobia and bigotry against the AAPI community have escalated to unprecedented levels. Stop AAPI Hate has received more than 6,600 reports of hate incidents since March 2020. Almost half of those incidents were reported in California, and these racist attacks have disproportionately affected the most vulnerable members of the community, including elders, young people, and AAPI women who report hate incidents two times as often as AAPI men.

The $156.5 million investment sponsored by the API Legislative Caucus is among the most significant actions to date in response to the surge in anti-AAPI hate and violence over the past year and addresses racial inequities that have harmed AAPI communities since the 1800s.

The US commits $280 billion to high-tech research and manufacturing, South Korea pardons Lee Jae-yong, the heir of Samsung, Musk sells $6.9 billion worth of Tesla shares, and meditation app Calm and Peloton slashing jobs.

President Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act that commits $280 billion to scientific research and high-tech manufacturing.

The bill provides tax breaks for companies that build computer chip factories in the United States. It also funds around $200 billion to various agencies (like National Science Foundation) to boost investments in high-tech fields like wireless communications and robotics.

The California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (CAPIAA), whose mission is to elevate the political, economic, and social issues of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) by contributing to and strengthening how state government addresses the needs, issues, and concerns of the diverse and complex Asian and Pacific Islander American communities, is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, https://capiaa.ca.gov.

The California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs applauds Governor Newsom and the State Legislature for making the historic investment of $8 million, on-going, to California Community College (CCC), and $8 million, on-going, to California State University (CSU) to create central offices and disseminate funds to AANAPISI-eligible CCC and CSU colleges and universities to serve underserved AANHPI higher education students.California Education Code commencing with Section 79510 (for CCC) and Education Code commencing with Section 89297 (for CSU) authorize each respective college systems to provide culturally responsive on-campus student support programs specifically for low-income, underserved, first-generation Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) students to increase higher education retention and attainment.

The State of California is proud to announce the launch of the California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS). CalKIDS is a new program designed to jump start education savings for California children and to support the college or career training dreams of many underserved California families.

This program serves two groups: newborns and eligible low-income public school children. All participants will automatically receive seed deposits and other possible financial incentives in a CalKIDS account. CalKIDS is administered by the ScholarShare Investment Board, an agency of the State of California chaired by State Treasurer Fiona Ma that oversees ScholarShare 529, the state’s official college savings plan.
All babies born in California on or after July 1, 2022, will receive up to $100 in a college savings account. Additionally, eligible low-income public school students may qualify to receive up to $1,500 in college savings for their future.*

As California schools begin in-person instruction, the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) Vaccinate ALL 58 task force held a media briefing to detail what returning to the classroom looks like under the state’s SMARTER plan and actions California is taking to keep children, parents, teachers and staff safer from COVID-19.

The state announced that as part of the SMARTER Plan, California has been working closely with County Offices of Education to distribute more than 10 million over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 tests in preparation for the start of the school year.

Dr Sohil Sud, California Department of Public Health, Brooks Allen, Executive Director of the State Board of Education, and Yurina Melara, Multiethnic Press Secretary talked about the COVID-19 back-to-school safety policies and suggestions.

At a time of increased political polarization and racial tension, Sonia and Richard Kang’s story offers an alternative narrative that is increasingly becoming the norm in the United States.
