HMS published its first link between TimeControl and Primavera in 1997. The link worked with Primavera’s P3 RA and its newest version Primavera for the Enterprise with a direct connect to either SQL Server or Oracle databases.
There have been a lot of changes since then.
On the Primavera side, there has been a constant evolution of the project management and scheduling platform since and, in 2008, Oracle purchased Primavera. On the TimeControl side, there has been an evolution of the product itself and of the ways it can integrate with Primavera. None of the older methods have ever been erased but some are no longer in use. Today, there are three main methods of integrating the two systems. Clients can use one or more than one method depending on how they have deployed Primavera. Data can be interchanged bi-bidirectionally using a Web Services method, a RESTful method or a direct-to-database method. Because all three of these are supported, this means that TimeControl can integrate not just with Primavera EPPM but also with Primavera Professional and not just with one version but with multiple servers and multiple Primavera Pro instances at the same time.
There has always been a big advantage to clients in integrating the two enterprise systems. Primavera has long been known for its advanced project scheduling and project management capabilities. It is used around the world on some of the most complex and largest projects. TimeControl has been known from its first version as an advanced platform for multi-function timesheet capabilities, providing auditable actuals not just to project management but also to Finance, Payroll, Billing, and Job-Costing. The combination has been reported by hundreds of clients as a powerful one.
That’s flexible.
Key features that are cited by Primavera / TimeControl users include TimeControl’s Matrix Approval Process for Labor Actuals™, missing timesheet management, automated business validation rules, extensive rate management with unlimited rates per resource, management of vacation, sick leave, and personal time banks, management of banked overtime, and the free TimeControl Mobile App.
There are several editions of TimeControl including TimeControl on-premise, TimeControl Industrial on-premise, TimeControl Online, TimeControl Industrial Online in the Cloud and TimeControl Project. All of these editions are able to integrate with Primavera EPPM and Primavera Pro.
TimeControl Industrial and TimeControl Industrial Online added functionality such as Crew Timesheets and Material consumption/Equipment usage entries into the system along with Extended Rate functionality and much more.
The integration with Primavera is included in at no additional cost in all editions of TimeControl. The integrations can all be run on demand or unattended on a schedule.
As an Oracle Partner, the HMS and Oracle technical teams are able to continue to collaborate to ensure that the TimeControl and Primavera integration continues to deliver effective integrated timesheet functionality for all corporate systems that need it.
