United Way funds 19 neighborhood organization projects totaling $14,000
Since 2004, United Way has been a proud sponsor of National Night Out . However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic facing the community, we made the difficult decision to shift our 2020 mini-grant process from supporting National Night Out events to supporting neighborhood organizations interested in responding to the needs that have been identified in their communities as a result of COVID-19. A critical element was also partnering with the Neighborhood Resource Organization to identify funding priorities which were community resources for basic needs , transportation and health resources .

The result... 19 funded projects are well underway and have included everything from a socially-distant community fair for Perry Elementary families and community parade for Our West Bayfront residents to stocking hygiene pantries and even a movie night for Strong Vincent Middle School students (pictured left.)

Imagination Library Hits 750,000 Books Mailed

Since that time, 22,898  local children have received free, high-quality books in the mail each month delivered right to their home. And, we are pleased to announce as of August 2020, we have surpassed the 750,000th book mailed mark. In total, 754,843 books have been mailed to Erie's littlest readers. WOW!

100% of Imagination Library program funds are raised by support to  United Way of Erie County . We can't thank you enough for your support of United Way's countywide early literacy initiative bringing books right into the hands of young minds and young hearts.
