A note from Pastor Katlin:
Dear Ones of Holy Apostles,
As we come halfway through 2019, I wanted to write you a brief report as to how things have been going since our Annual Meeting in January:
Reminders and Announcements:
Interested in serving on the Altar Guild?  CHA is actively recruiting members.
This team prepares the sanctuary for Holy Communion on a weekly basis, as well as special occasions, and oversees the altar flowers. To get involved, contact BJ Saito and/or Elizabeth Bell.
Bible Study is held every Wednesday at 4pm in the office.
A sung Evening Prayer will be held the first Wednesday of every month instead of the Eucharist. Father David Glaser will officiate.
Noonday Prayer is now being held every Wednesday. Join us in the sanctuary.
Wishlist: Some of our members have asked to donate supplies to the church. If you are interested, download the wishlist here .
Prayer List: Please submit your prayer requests via this link:

The Prayer List is refreshed at the beginning of each month.
Do you want to serve God through the Church? Do you enjoy working with people and want to make a difference that will sustain and grow Holy Apostles? Do you want to strengthen your team-building skills? Do you want to serve but not quite sure which ministry is for you? See below for the myriad of choices available and contact person for questions.
How can our Holy Apostles Community take steps to be more sustainable and kind to our environment?

June Green Tip : Summer is here! As we look forward to longer sunny days, please protect yourself from excessive sun exposure with a hat, sunglasses, appropriate clothing, and sunscreen.

Did you know that in 2018 Governor Ige signed a bill that bans sunscreen containing chemicals harmful to coral reefs? We are the 1st state in the nation to pass this type of law. Although, the bill doesn't go into effect until January 1, 2021, you can be proactive today. Please read your labels and avoid sunscreen containing oxybenzone and octinoxate. It is a common allergen & has been linked to coral bleaching & declining health of coral reefs and marine life. A safer and recommended sunscreen is mineral based - such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Opportunities from the Office of the Bishop:

“Invite/Welcome/Connect”  (see  Invite/Welcome/Connect ) is coming  to the Diocese on  Saturday September 7, 2019 . Led by Mary Palmer, Invite/Welcome/Connect "is a ministry of relational evangelism and congregational empowerment allowing churches to become places of genuine connection for inviting the faith journeys and stories of everyone, enabling deeper journeys of Christian discipleship and enabling the Spirit of Christ to be at the heart of each church's hospitable mission of spreading the Good News." The workshop will be taking place at the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Davies Hall, from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Cost is only $15 and includes lunch. Airfare will be covered for neighbor island clergy and two others from each church. Register at  "Registration for Invite/Welcome/Connect"

The Reverend  Jay Sidebotham  from  RenewalWorks  (see  Renewal/Works ) is now scheduled to be with us as the presenter at  Diocesan Education Day (Friday, October 25)  and as the chaplain to the Annual Meeting of Diocesan Convention (Saturday, October 26). Many experienced Jay’s plenary presentation and workshop at “Renewal 2019.” Remember, Education Day is open to anyone in the Diocese, but it is particularly important for Diocesan leaders (including Delegates, Wardens and Vestry/Bishop’s Committee members) to take part.
If you are interested in either, please contact Pastor Katlin.
