Heat stress related illnesses can be life threatening. With another six weeks of summer, we can surely expect more sizzling days to come through September and possibly beyond. Cari Gray has been a Safety Consultant with the BWC since May 2005. She works with a diverse range of companies in many different industries, from public entities to a wide variety of private companies. She helps customers evaluate their current safety situations, set goals and create plans of action to successfully achieve their goals. She also teaches many safety related classes for the BWC.
Prior to working at the BWC, Cari was an Environmental, Safety and Health Manager for General Electric. She also worked in the Safety Department of an automotive based company, after graduating from The Ohio State University in 1999.
Cari is very passionate about the safety and health of Ohio employees. Her philosophy is based around top management commitment, employee involvement and personal responsibility. Her time outside of work is happily spent with her husband, two children and two dogs.
Rick Maj graduated from the University of Akron in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. He was hired in July 1983 by the BWC Division of Safety and Hygiene and is an Industrial Hygienist. He successfully met the requirements set forth by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and became a Certified Safety Professional in 1995. As an Industrial Hygienist he conducts surveys to identify, evaluate, and control air and noise hazards in the workplace. He is also an instructor for the Division of Safety and Hygiene OCOSH Training Center.
