"We know that the consumers care about animal welfare," said Barger-Weathers, "and we know that they have a very strong opinion even if they may not fully understand how their food is produced or where it originates. I think it's really critical that we work together in a collaborative — and in some cases even in a non-competitive aspect — so we can advance animal welfare."
