Hello Joseph,
We hope you are ready to enjoy a beautiful Spring Day.
We also hope you get to do something for yourself today outside for lots of reasons, but mostly, because you deserve it.
You’ve made it through the Winter months, you’ve probably overcome some challenges of your own recently and we are sure you deserve to celebrate some wins!
Something we do as much as we can at Park Fitness is also celebrate wins.
And of course we would, as our members are so awesome and super deserving of some well-earned recognition.
Wins for members can be any number of things as everyone’s goals can be different.
Some people want to get stronger or tone up.
Some might want to lose a few pounds while others want to be and feel healthier while maybe getting off some medications in anticipation of pool and beach season.
There are just so many awesome benefits of exercise.
So what are some benefits of exercise that might be easy to overlook that we see members achieving every day?
Running
We have seen time and again, runners who work out with us tell us how much they were able to improve with just workouts alone.
And in some cases, even if they hadn’t been logging as many miles as they’d like, they were hitting personal bests or performing so much better than they thought possible.
This is all by adding in functional workouts.
Leg strength, core training and even training some explosiveness can really pay off here.
Pickleball
It’s the latest sensation and it’s sweeping the nation. Pickleball is being adopted by participants of all ages.
It feels like every week we have a new member telling us about how they started playing.
Just recently we had a great conversation with a member who shared something profound with us.
You see, at Park Fitness we train the whole body, allow you to adjust the workout to your level and even give you opportunities to workout with some power and explosiveness.
This particular member told us that even though we program some hopping or explosive training, she was curious as to all the practical applications of it.
Well after she started pickleball she noticed how much that training translated to her being able to quickly accelerate, get to the ball faster and change directions, it was never more apparent how much that training paid off.
Every Day Life
We like to occasionally share a story from a training client from years ago who at the beginning of a session one day started it off by telling us that we helped save her granddaughter’s life.
Now we hardly think we could take credit for it, but we progressed her training to the point that she was eventually doing regular lunges.
And even though she hated them as well as occasionally protested, she did them, yet always wondered what the benefit was.
Then one day she was down by the water in Downtown Annapolis with her granddaughter who was feeding the ducks.
Well, her granddaughter ended up falling into the water and couldn’t swim.
Wouldn’t you know it that this training client of ours, without thinking, quickly lunged down, grabbed her granddaughter by the arm and pulled her right back up on to the dock!
She was never more proud of herself and what her body could do.
These are all amazing wins and benefit of exercise that at first most don’t necessarily see.
A lot of times we don’t know how much an active lifestyle and occasional, or even regular, training can pay off. But when we do, it’s eye opening at how much better our lives are.
So today, celebrate some of your own wins, maybe get outside and be active, and you might just improve your life (or help someone else’s) in more ways than you think.
