PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VICTORIA, British Columbia, October 22nd, 2022 —
The Town of Indian Head received a rating of 5 Blooms - Bronze and a special mention for Educational Growing & Sharing during the 2022 National/International Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in Victoria, British Columbia. The Town of Indian Head participated in the Circle of Excellence - Evaluated category.

Over the summer, trained volunteer judges travelled to participating communities to evaluate the overall contributions of municipal council and departments; industry; businesses and the private sector – including volunteer efforts – regarding the following criteria: Community Appearance, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Tree Management, Landscape and Plant & Floral Displays.

Following their evaluation, volunteer judges Lorna McIlroy and Linda Tomlinson wrote:
Located just one hour east of Regina, Indian Head is a beautiful, mid-sized prairie town with a proud record of horticulture, heritage preservation and most importantly the generous sharing of that information.  The residents of Indian Head and the CiB committee possess an incredible knowledge of the town’s natural and cultural heritage, horticulture in general and arboriculture in particular.  They are all commended for their extraordinary commitment to the generous sharing of this knowledge.  Plant and floral displays throughout the town are augmented by informational, educational signage.  Retired arborists generously advise on the choosing, planting and maintenance of suitable trees.  The Community Garden educates by example and through signage.  The Museum collection is extensive and heritage sites are well-maintained, containing excellent information boards.  Whether residing in Indian Head or just visiting, you are sure to grow in knowledge while exploring this unique town.

All those involved in the Communities in Bloom program can be proud of their efforts, benefitting all of society by providing real and meaningful ways to mitigate climate change
