We're in the Top Five!

The nominations are announced and Holy Communion is one of 5 finalists for the Memphis Most Best Place of Worship!

What does this mean? We're in the running for the top 3, and you can vote -- as often as once an hour between now and 9 a.m. on June 8.

It's a great time to be at Holy Communion - let's let the rest of Memphis know! Click here to vote!

Choral Evensong: Trinity Sunday, May 31

Sunday, May 31, 5:30 p.m.

Mark your calendar for the last Evensong of the spring semester -- in this beautiful Anglican tradition, hear the music of Martin Neary, Bryan Kelly and C. Kenneth Turner, sung by the Motet Choir, directed by minister of music and liturgy Dr. David Perry Ouzts. Reception follows.

Summertime at Holy Communion

Summer is also a great time to be at Holy Communion! We have lots going on during the vacation months -- food trucks, Theology by the River, new classes for all ages, Sunday morning vacation Bible school-style children's activities and more.

If you haven't yet picked up a flyer, there are more available at the church, and you can also download it at this link.

Wolf River Singers Concert
and Silent Auction: May 30

The Wolf River Singers have made Holy Communion their rehearsal home -- this weekend come out for a pops concert and silent auction here at the church, Saturday evening, with music by Leonard Cohen, the Beatles, John Legend and more.

Centering Prayer: June 6

In a fast-paced world, encountering God in the restoring silence of Centering Prayer heals.

Please join us Saturday, June 6, 9-11:15 a.m. for a time of resting in God's Presence with both Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina (praying the scriptures). All are welcome and instruction is available for interested newcomers.  We meet in Quilling Memorial Chapel; the Labyrinth is also available to walk in Cheney Parish Hall. For additional information, call Eileen Olewinski, 901-377-8141.

Looking ahead...

This year, the first Saturday in July is Independence Day and Church of the Holy Communion will be closed. We will meet instead at Memphis Friends' Meeting House at 3387 Walnut Grove, just a few minutes down the road. Please plan to come.

Book It 5K Planning is Under Way

Be involved

in planning!

The 2015 Book It 5K will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19!  Once again, our race will benefit the Emmanuel Center and Shelby County Books from Birth.

If you would like to part of the 2015 Race Committee, please contact Julie Fike at 767-6987 ext. 22.

Be a sponsor!

Our previous four Book It 5K races would not have been so successful without the generous support of so many sponsors. If you or your company would like to consider being a sponsor for the Book It 5K, please pick up a sponsorship form from the church. Many levels of sponsorship are available - some of the benefits include complimentary entries in the race and having your company logo or name on the race website, posters, ads and t-shirts.  If you have any questions about being a race sponsor, please contact Steve Maury at  493-4485.

Take the Book It 5K Health Challenge!

This year's Health Challenge is an eight-week walking or running challenge that starts the week of July 26 and ends with our Book It 5K on September 19.

The program is for everyone, beginners to experienced. Get fit and earn points for your team by completing your individual walking or running workouts each week. Top teams will earn gift certificate prizes.

For more information or to sign up, contact Robert Propst.
