Look at this teacher's dedication to her students, the only teacher at the small Sisbilhá school:

Here, you can see Mirna Suram, with the bright pink cap, working together with her students:

Mirna Suram, teaches 3rd through 6th grades, motivating her students to develop their skills and challenging them to improve.

Teachers in village schools in remote Guatemala provide for their students as if they are their own children, even ensuring that they sometimes get the only complete meal of the day.

This is the reason why she is passionate about working on the greenhouse project. She sees that she is growing food for her children.

For Teacher Mirna, there are no limits. Since she was little, she dreamed of being a teacher, but it wasn't until she came of age, and was able to work, that she began her studies.

She also loves agriculture, so she is passionate about teaching all the children at the school about it. She has the support of the school principal, who is the first and second grade teacher.

Both Mirna and school principal, Ingrid Melina Caal Barrientos (known by Mely), are very grateful for all the support the NGO Sowing Opportunities has given them, and for the new methodology they have shared with them.

They strive to ensure their students thoroughly understand agriculture, so that as adults they can benefit from what they have learned in school.

Teacher Mirna is enthusiastic about continuing to practice this methodology with his students.



At the civic parade celebrating Guatemala's 204th anniversary of Independence, held in the Fray Bartolomé de las Casas area, the Caserío Sisbilhá Official Rural Mixed School, with its only teacher, the school principal, and 56 students are carrying and walking behind a banner that proudly displays their harvests this year, recognizing their productivity and development!  At the bottom of the banner is a dedication to Sowing Opportunities.  We are filled with pride about their accomplishment!
