Dear District 2 Neighbors,

Public safety is very important to me, and opening the San Jose Police Department South Substation is one of my top priorities. As your representative at the City, I believe it is time to follow through on our promise to open the Substation for its originally intended purpose: offering public police services, opening the lobby to the public on a limited basis, and deploying Southern Division patrol and Community Service Officers.

Opening the Substation was not included in Mayor Liccardo's 2018 March Budget Message , but according to the Message, the number one priority -- supported by 80% of residents -- is “improving police response to violent crimes and property crimes, such as burglary.”

I co-authored a memorandum with Councilmember Johnny Khamis to fight for resources to open the Substation. Click here to read our memorandum .

If you would like to see the Substation operational, we strongly encourage you to have your voice heard. As our greatest allies, you can:

  1. Voice your support when our memorandum goes before the City Council Meeting this upcoming Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 1:30 p.m.
  2. Submit your letter of support for this memorandum by emailing the City Clerk, the Mayor, and the San Jose City Council members:

In community,
Councilmember Sergio Jimenez
