The Mindfulness Collaboratory, created by Dr. Esmilda Abreu and Rhonda Schaller, MPS, MBSR from Pratt Institute, invites you to learn about our upcoming program, The Mindfulness Collaboratory: Leading by Intention. This program focuses on contemplative leaders setting intentions to create resilient artistic communities through individual meditation skill share, collective support, and mindful leadership. Participants will meet over the course of 2025 to learn, meditate, discuss, grow, and lead together which will culminate in a capstone project shared with the group in early 2026.

Ahead of its closure this Sunday, the Rubin Museum of Art faces growing pressure from activists to return Tibetan and Himalayan objects in its collection. The campaign, led by Our Ancestors Say No (OASN), claims that sacred cultural artifacts were stolen and demands their repatriation. As the museum transitions to a "global" model, protesters continue to challenge its relocation of the Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room to the Brooklyn Museum.

Artadia is now accepting applications for the 2024 Houston Awards from all visual artists who have lived and worked throughout Harris County for a minimum of two years. Individual artists and collaboratives working in all contemporary visual media and at any stage in their career are strongly encouraged to apply. Awardees will be selected through a two-tier jury in the fall of 2024. Three winners will be awarded by jury.

Attend: Marshall University Free Public Art Conference & Artist Talk
Marshall University’s School of Art & Design will host Art Careers: Public Art, a mini conference set for Friday, Oct. 18, at the Visual Arts Center. This event, free and open to the public, will highlight the work of regional public artists and feature guest Becky Borlan, a Baltimore-based public artist known for producing vibrant, large-scale works that create a sense of the whimsical through the use of light and color. The mini conference is preceded by an artist talk on Thursday, Oct. 17. Borlan will present the talk “Public Art in Creative Practice.” Free Livestream is available here.

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is proud to honor the contributions of continuing generations of immigrants and refugees to the United States. Find out the requirements you need to meet to become a Fellow in 2025 You must not have reached or passed your 31st birthday as of the application deadline. There is no minimum age requirement. You must be planning to be enrolled in a full-time degree-granting graduate or professional program in the United States in the 2025-2026 academic year. The Fellowship is open to all fields of study and you can apply when you’re applying to graduate school or while you’re in the early years of graduate school.
