Energy Tips to Help You Save

“I haven’t touched my thermostat, but my bill has gone way up. What’s going on?”

It’s a common question—and totally understandable.

While your thermostat setting might have stayed consistent, the bitter cold temperatures have caused your heating system to run more and use significantly more electricity.

How Weather Impacts Your Bill

Track your home’s energy use with the Monthly Summary Email when you download the MyREC SmartHub mobile app. See what appliances are using the most energy so you can make necessary adjustments to keep your bill as low as possible!

In the winter, turn down your thermostat setting to 68 degrees or the lowest comfortable temperature. At night or when away from home, set it even lower - but when turning it back up, do so only 2 degrees at a time.
