Dear Senior Center Member,
I am hoping this e-mail finds you well! Miss us? Well we miss you too!!
Over the course of the last several months the staff and I have been reaching out to you to explore how you're doing and how you're managing through these difficult times. We have heard a wide range of responses: meh, great, so-so, some good days and some bad. One constant theme that ran true for almost everyone is that if we caught you on a day that you had spoken to a friend, a neighbor, senior center staff or even had an outing to the supermarket, you were in better spirits. That is no surprise! We humans aren’t meant to live in isolation.
I’ve noticed that the times I’m most prone to bouts of anxiety and not feeling my best coincide with the times I’m not meaningfully connecting to people. Perhaps it’s no coincidence then that many of the mental health challenges we face today stem from this experience of disconnect.
I'm not suggesting that the programs we offer will lift you out of a emotional rut and keep you there, but it may just give you an uplift you for a few moments while you connect with others over an activity. And that may be enough to lift your spirits for the whole day. Why not give it a try?
Further down in this email are some of our featured programs but please check the calendar for other programs of interest.
