As our calendars fill up there is no doubt we are entering the height of season. There is so much to get out and enjoy. Our non profits have many upcoming events and I encourage everyone to get out and support their efforts. With our support they will continue to work their magic and help so many!

This is also the time of year that our college bound students are working on applications. Boy do I remember those days! It's time to gather as much knowledge as possible. There is an event coming up that I want to make sure our young families are aware of. Saint Edward’s School is hosting college Admissions Directors from around the country on Monday, January 22nd at 7pm. If you have a college bound child you are not going to want to miss this informative night. Students and families from all over the Treasure Coast are welcome to attend this free event. It's an event that St. Ed's has offered our community in past years and it is well worth your time. Get this event on your calendar and learn tips that will help make an application stand out from the crowd as well as the latest trends in college admissions.

This year’s Admissions Directors include:

•       University of Tampa, representing the private university

•       Boston College, representing the highly selective university

•       UC Boulder, representing out of state public college

Have you ever attended a performance of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra? Whether it’s an intimate Chamber music program at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, the primary series called Masterworks (both played Jan-April), or the newest addition-a Holiday concert in December, you’ll be amazed! T

The ACO is led by Julliard-trained and nationally known conductor David Amado, and the orchestra is composed of exclusively professional musicians-some of which enjoy levels of success in our region. Chamber ensembles this year include brass quintets, as well as the more traditional string and trios. Masterworks programs are themed, with the

February focus on Paris Jazz including Gershwin’s famous ‘An American in Paris’. The season continues with Latin Passions in March and the Classics (featuring Beethoven’s incredible Symphony No 3) in April. United Way of Indian River County successfully hosted its first-ever Wiffle Palooza Wiffle Ball Tournament on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Thompson Fields, home to Vero Beach Little League. Despite a brief rain delay, the event turned out to be a grand success, featuring a full-fledged tournament that brought together 15 teams, including esteemed funded partners like the Mental Health Collaborative and Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council.

The highlight of the tournament was the thrilling competition, culminating in the ‘Bad News Wifflers’ emerging victorious as the overall winners. The Home Run Derby showcased exceptional talent, with Cristian Nodal claiming the title of Home Run Derby Winner. In the Pitch-Off competition, Ryan Culver displayed outstanding skills and was crowned the Pitch-Off Winner. With special appreciation to Sailfish Vero Beach and Walking Tree Brewery for their donation of prizes.
