This week we're presenting Hood Museum of Art, Kingston Gallery and Providence Art Club.
These three exhibitions challenge viewers to look at their environments in a new way and engage with the space around them on a deeper level. From having viewers reckon with colonial mindsets in mapmaking to engaging with the vibrant colors and shapes of the natural world to personifying the people, places and things all around us, these shows are a glimpse into how others see the world.
The deadline to advertise in the July / August edition of Artscope Magazine is Saturday, June 15. Contact advertise@artscopemagazine.com right away to book!

Kingston Gallery presents Joan Baldwin: Hallucinations, which delves into the unique way in which artist Joan Baldwin sees and paints the plants, animals and places of Cape Cod. In her work, Baldwin "goes beyond the reality" of what she's seen and personifies the environments around her. "In order to successfully express my fantasies, I personify what I see," writes Baldwin in her artist statement. "Sometimes I imagine I’m represented by one of those characters in the painting." The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. Kingston Gallery is located at 450 Harrison Ave. No. 43, Boston, MA. For more information, please visit here. | |
