A lasting legacy
Pentacle Theatre Lifetime Member Alice Norton. Oct. 3, 1940 - Nov. 3, 2019
Opening night of The Cake , I had the opportunity to recognize the family of Alice Mary Norton, the show's sponsors.

That night I said that one of my favorite parts of my job is supporting families and loved ones when a member of the Pentacle Theatre community passes.

Why? Every time we lose someone, I learn more about the passion that has fueled our theater for more than 65 years. I get to stop and reflect on the amazing and multiple ways our volunteers contribute to what makes our community like a family.

Alice's sister Barbara and her husband Bruce moved to Salem to be near Alice. They took her to the theater and symphony, on vacations and to the doctor. They sat by her side as she struggled with health problems and when she finally succumbed. Bruce even hung posters on Alice's route -- a volunteer job she did faithfully for many years -- when she was unable. Their devotion and care were beautiful to witness.

Her love for Pentacle inspired them to support us enthusiastically through sponsorship and other gifts that will make us a stronger organization.
It's a true honor to help them continue to love Alice and the theater she called home.
