Delta variant surge changes our plans
Greetings!
The last newsletter was full of good news about our hopes to return to our stage. Sadly, circumstances have changed.

Since then, the surge in Delta variant infections in Oregon and changing directives about mask and vaccine requirements has brought us to modify our plans. Our commitment is to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and you, our patrons.

We have now canceled the mid-September celebration of our return to the Pentacle stage. We are taking time to develop a COVID testing protocol for the cast and crew of The Mousetrap. and intend to open that show on Oct. 8.

Audience members will need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test and wear a mask during performances.

We continue to watch changing state and federal recommendations closely to determine the safest way to return to live, in-person theater.

As you can imagine, the atmosphere of uncertainty is trying for our governing board, staff and especially the cast and crew of The Mousetrap. We appreciate your gracious patience as we navigate these unfamiliar waters.

Our hope is to have tickets for The Mousetrap on sale after Sept. 1. Watch your email for updates.
Children joyfully took our stage during pandemic lull

We were thrilled to welcome the Children's Educational Theatre "library show" to our space in late July. The rental was possible because COVID cases had reached a low. The rehearsal and performances were subject to CET's strict COVID protocols for performers, crew and audiences.

It was wonderful to see the adorable production making great use of the auditorium and other parts of the theater during the week they were here.
Southern Baptist Sissies livestream Sunday at 5 p.m.

The Del Shores Foundation is hosting a Southern Baptist Sissies 20th Anniversary Celebration livestream benefit, Sunday, Aug. 22, at 5 p.m. Pacific.

Hosted live by Emerson Collins & Del Shores with performances from the film soundtrack by Debby Holiday & Tony Winner Levi Kreis.

The livestream will feature reunion appearances of all the film cast: Leslie Jordan, Dale Dickey, Willam, Matthew Scott Montgomery, Luke Stratte-McClure, Newell Alexander, Rosemary Alexander, Bobbie Eakes & Ann Walker.

They will have appearances by Sissies from the original GLAAD Award-winning play including Bobby Stephenson, Michael Taylor Gray, Ted Detwiler, Scott Presley & Tommy Woelfel, along with some other special guests.

All proceeds will be split 50 percent to 25 non-profit live theatres (including Pentacle Theatre) and 50 percent to the inaugural Del Shores Foundation Writers Search. Submissions now open to LGBTQ+ Southern writers!!

2022 season selection underway - watch your email
The process of selecting a 2022 season is now underway. The board hopes to hear director proposals in September and to announce a season shortly thereafter. Season ticket holders will have a priority to retain their seats, subject to availability.

Stay safe and well. Please get vaccinated and wear your mask, we want you back in your seats and ready to enjoy live community theater.
