Titusville Playhouse
presents
Tootsie
July 26 – August 18
Michael Dorsey will go to any length for his career in this award-winning musical. Based on the hit comedy film starring Dustin Hoffman and ranked as one of the best comedies of all-time, Tootsie has had audiences rolling in the aisles in what was hailed as “Broadway’s funniest new musical!” by the New York Post.
Michael Dorsey is a skilled actor with a talent for not keeping a job. Desperate and out-of-work, Michael makes a last-ditch effort at making his dreams come true…by disguising himself as actress Dorothy Michaels. In a meteoric rise to Broadway stardom, Michael (disguised as Dorothy) soon has audiences enamored while falling for his co-star, Julie. It isn’t long before Michael realizes that maintaining his greatest acting success is going to be much harder than he expected.

VBMA Invites the Community to Participate in Public Art Project During
July 27 Free Admission Saturday
Additional Exhibition-Inspired Events Scheduled Throughout the Summer
This month, Vero Beach Museum of Art presents Billboard Bonanza, a large-scale public art project inspired by the visiting Rock 'N’ Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip exhibition. The special activity is part of the Museum Studios program for Saturday, July 27, a free admission day at the Museum.
From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Museum guests can paint a section of a pre-designed image celebrating the vibrant and dynamic spirit of the rock 'n' roll era. This collaborative project beckons artists of all ages to express their creativity while connecting to the history of music and exploring billboard advertising as a public art form.
“This community billboard project was inspired by the public and interactive nature of the billboards showcased in the Rock 'N' Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip exhibition,” shares Sara Klein, VBMA Director of Education. “The Museum Education Team worked with local artist and VBMA Museum Art School instructor Barry Shapiro, who brought his expertise in community art projects to design an image that celebrates the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll at the VBMA. This initiative celebrates the legacy of billboard art and emphasizes VBMA’s commitment to fostering inclusive and participatory art environments.”
Guests can also enjoy docent-led mini-tours of the VBMA and discover complementary themes in the widely popular Rock ‘N’ Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip: Photographs by Robert Landau exhibition.
The Rock ‘N’ Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip: Photographs by Robert Landau exhibition is on view at the Vero Beach Museum of Art through September 1, 2024. For Museum admission fees, hours, and directions, visit vbmuseum.org.

Sam Morrow
at The Lyric
July 27 - 7pm
With five albums under his belt, Sam Morrow has carved out a sound that exists somewhere outside of genre and geography. It's his own version of modern-day American roots music: a mix of roadhouse rock & roll, bluesy R&B, and country-fried funky-tonk, driven forward by groove, grease, and guitars.
It's also a sound that owes as much to the road — where Morrow spent most of the past decade on tour, supporting albums like Concrete & Mud and Gettin' By On Gettin' Down — as the various places he's called home. This is music for the fast lane. Music for empty highways. Music for people who, like Morrow, always seem to find themselves in transit.

Suessical
Through July 28
The Cat in the Hat tells the tale of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, a whole population that lives there. Meanwhile, Jojo, a Who child, is sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks”.
Horton also faces another challenge, not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayze La Bird.
Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses her faith in him. And while the powers of friendship and community are challenged, loyalty and family emerge triumphant.

ACT Studio Theatre
Almost Maine
AUDITIONS: Friday, Jul 26, 7pm
A woman carries
her heart, broken into nineteen pieces, in a small paper bag. A man shrinks to half his former size, after losing hope in love. A couple keep the love they have given each other in large red bags, or compress the mass into the size of a diamond. These playful and surreal experiences are commonplace in the world of John Cariani’s Almost, Maine, where on one deeply cold and magical Midwinter Night, the citizens of Almost - not organized enough for a town, too populated for a wilderness -experience the life-altering power of the human heart.

And Then There Were None
Through
July 28
Treasure Coast Theatre presents a classic Agatha Christie murder mystery, And Then There Were None, the world’s best selling mystery of all time.
On a summer’s day in 1938, eight strangers arrive on a small, isolated island off the Devon coast of England, each having received an unexpected personal invitation. They are tended to by two married domestics, Thomas and Ethel Rogers, who explain that their hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Owen, have not yet arrived. The Rogers themselves were contracted only a week prior through an agency and have never met their employers.
A framed copy of an old rhyme hangs over the fireplace, and ten figurines sit on the mantle. Before supper, a phonograph record is played; the recording accuses all ten people present of having committed murder, then they begin to die one-by-one based on the verses of the rhyme.

Ballet Vero Beach and Riverside Theatre are thrilled to announce Pigeonwing Dance as the invited company for this year's Riverside Dance Festival.

Nature & Mystery:
The Art of Mally Khorasantchi
On view Through September 15
This Summer, the Polk Museum of Art invites you into the world of Mally Khorasantchi, an artist whose abstract visual language has been featured in more than a dozen solo shows in Florida, New York, and her native Germany.
Born in Post-Second World War Düsseldorf, Khorasantchi came of age — and became an artist — in a country deep in turmoil and historical reckoning, re-imagining itself and its place in the world following the horrors of its immediate past.
Now based in Florida for more than three decades, Khorasantchi tries in her colorful and complex compositions to reconcile the stoic nature of her German upbringing with a cheery dose of American optimism. Filled with earthly creatures and imbued with the contrasting themes of order versus chaos, her vibrant paintings examine the interrelationships between us and the co-inhabitants of the world around us.
