STUDENT CENTER
Abdul Samed Walker, Bronx Community College ’19 and Baruch College ’20, walked a difficult path on his way to becoming a software engineer. A refugee from Ghana, Abdul struggled to pay for school, juggling as many as three jobs. At UPS, he worked alongside a fellow BCC student who helped pay his enrollment fees. Abdul earned the rest of his tuition through scholarships. At CUNY, he was active in student government and the men's soccer team at BCC, where he was named the student soccer athlete of the year in 2018. He recently worked as an IT support intern at the DOE and hopes to land a position at a big tech company.
Abdul’s Advice: "Your location is not your destination. Let the current challenges be your focal point to help you get to the level of success you want in your life."
