Summer Reflection. Renewed Purpose.

There's something about summer that encourages us to slow down, take a deep breath, and reflect.

As MAWOCN enters a new fiscal year, we're embracing this season as an opportunity to pause, honor the journey that has brought us here, and recommit ourselves to the values and mission that continue to guide our work.

This year, our annual fundraiser, R.E.N.T. Party: Then. Now. Next., will take place in September rather than June. While the date has shifted into a new fiscal year, its theme couldn't feel more fitting for where we find ourselves today.

Then. Now. Next. has become more than the title of an event. It reminds us to honor where we've been, intentionally realign with who we are today, and thoughtfully imagine what comes next.

Growth isn't always found in constant movement. Sometimes it begins with reflection, with creating space to listen, learn, and realign before making the next move.

As you continue through this newsletter, we invite you to reflect with us as we revisit the values that continue to shape our work, strengthen our community, and guide our future.

Reflect. Realign. Rise.

As we begin a new fiscal year, we're reminded that values are more than words on a page, they are the commitments that shape how we lead, collaborate, care for one another, and serve our communities.

This season invites us to pause and reflect, not only on the work we've accomplished, but on the principles that continue to guide us. Every new chapter offers an opportunity to intentionally return to our foundation, strengthen our relationships, and ensure that our actions reflect the values we aspire to uphold.

Inspired by this year's R.E.N.T. Party theme, Then. Now. Next., we invite you to reflect alongside us.

THEN encourages us to honor the experiences, lessons, and relationships that have shaped our journey.

NOW invites us to intentionally realign, returning to our values with renewed purpose and considering how they are reflected in the way we lead, communicate, collaborate, and care for one another every day.

NEXT reminds us that when we consistently live our values, we create stronger organizations, deeper trust, healthier partnerships, and communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

As you read the reflections that follow, we invite you to consider not only MAWOCN's journey, but your own.

  1. What has shaped you?
  2. How are you choosing to realign?
  3. What future are you helping build?

Because when we reflect together, we grow together.

When we realign together, we lead with greater purpose.

And when we rise together, we truly embody what it means to Lift As We Climb.

Advocacy in Action

What does advocacy look like?

Advocacy isn't limited to courtrooms, crisis centers, or legislative chambers. It happens in everyday conversations, workplace policies, community partnerships, classrooms, faith communities, and neighborhoods. It begins whenever we choose to listen, learn, support, and create environments where survivors are believed, respected, and empowered.

At MAWOCN, we strengthen the advocates who strengthen our communities. By investing in leadership, training, collaboration, and collective care, we're helping build a stronger network of people committed to supporting survivors across Massachusetts.

The truth is...

You may already be supporting survivors. You just don't know it.

Then. Now. Next.

The Celebration Continues.

While our celebration has moved to a new date, our purpose remains the same.

Join us on Friday, September 25 at Garage B in Brighton for MAWOCN's 4th Annual R.E.N.T. Party: Then. Now. Next.

Inspired by the tradition of community rent parties, this 90s-themed evening is our annual impact celebration and fundraiser, a chance to celebrate our collective accomplishments while investing in the future of MAWOCN's work.

Come as you are after work, or have a little fun with your favorite 90s-inspired look. From music and memories to meaningful connections, the evening is designed to celebrate the power of community and the work that continues to move us forward.

We hope you'll join us as we honor then, celebrate now, and invest in next.

Because the Work Continues

Every season offers an opportunity to reflect, realign, and move forward with purpose.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to strengthening advocates, investing in leadership, building community, and creating lasting change throughout Massachusetts.

If this newsletter has reminded you of the importance of this work, we invite you to stay connected. Follow our journey, share our mission, attend our events, volunteer when you can, and consider making a gift to support the work ahead.

Together, we are building something that extends far beyond one program, one event, or one organization. We are strengthening a network of people committed to creating communities where survivors are supported, advocates are sustained, and collective care continues to grow.

Thank you for being part of our story.
