Pet Therapy the COVID-19 Way Thanks to our supporters, Canine Assisted Therapy has been able to adapt to the changing needs of the community. We are continuing to fulfill our mission by shifting focus to virtual and window visits. Our new format ensures we can continue comforting and improving lives of those in need. Watch a window visit!

Pet therapy teams are also using technology to continue our reading program with students at local elementary schools. Students are able to read aloud to their favorite therapy pup while building oral fluency skills and confidence.  In addition, we will be hosting live book readings with therapy dogs on Facebook so children can tune in while practicing at home! Through the use of technology, we have integrated Zoom, Facebook Live, Skype, and FaceTime into our therapy programs. Isolated seniors at many facilities have happily received the benefits of virtual pet therapy. We are also providing "window visits" to facilities. These types of visits allow residents/patients to safely see their furry friend and encourages them to engage in conversation, promoting the human connection.

Still Spreading Joy and Therapy Photos, videos and handmade cards are being sent to the facilities where the therapy dogs usually visit, and daily posts on social media help make sure there’s always an available supply of therapy animal photos. Sharing our efforts and passion however we can, and helping each other, will ensure those in need will still receive the many positive mental and physical benefits of therapy animals.
