Greetings!
There they were in the Alhambra in Granada, Spain – this family, tourists like my husband and me. I asked if I could take their photo to send to my friend Mubarakah back in New Haven. They said yes.
They, like us, marveled at the intricate beauty of this retreat built with dazzling care centuries ago. That was before Muslims, Jews and Protestants were expelled, killed, or forced to convert by Ferdinand and Isabella,
Los
Reyes Católicos.
In this August heat, I am stunned that we are awash in misunderstood history, that we continue to fear, demonize, kill, separate ourselves from people different from us.
Time to take a break from the “news.” Time to cut through to our deep core:
- Who am I?
- Who are we?
- How can we live together on this turf of ours?
No easy answers, but counter-productive to dodge the questions.
I invite you to join me for an
OASIS Retreat
on Thursday, September 13 – not at the Alhambra in Spain, but at the seaside Mercy Center in Madison, CT.
Till then, try the brief
Sanity Tip.
Warm greetings from Connecticut,
