There Are Only Two Kinds of Faith

When you interact with any religious or spiritual person, you will discover that there are only two kinds of faith. One is trusting what the Lord Jesus Christ has DONE to save sinners; the other is trusting what man must DO to be saved. One faith recognizes that salvation is by grace alone; the other faith nullifies the grace of God by requiring good works (Rom. 11:6). One is gloriously revealed in Scripture, while the other is based on religious traditions that nullify or oppose the Word of God. One was demonstrated by the tax collector, who was so burdened by his sin that he cried out to God for mercy, the other was demonstrated by  the proud self-righteous Pharisee, who boasted in what he was DOING (Luke 18:9-14).

The glorious promise of the Gospel is eternal, everlasting life. This divine assurance can be offered  unconditionally  because of all that Christ has DONE to save believers completely and forever. Yet, over half of "professing" Christians deny the assurance of eternal life because they have been deceived by "another" gospel. They have embraced  a works-based salvation, which perpetuates the fatal lie that you must DO good works and perform religious rites and rituals to be accepted by God. They fail to understand that finite men, with their limited capabilities, could never cancel their own eternal sin debt. What man could never DO, the eternal Son of God has DONE. The eternal sin debt was nailed to His cross (Col. 2:13-14). Thus man's only hope is to exchange his worthless religion for an eternal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  Eternal security and the assurance of salvation can only be realized when a person's faith is based on the Lord Jesus Christ alone and what He has DONE.

How will those who have been blinded by religious deception know what Christ has DONE? The Lord Jesus must be proclaimed as the all-sufficient Savior. This is the royal privilege and awesome responsibility of every Christian. We must proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His glorious light (1 Pet. 2:9). People will never know they are deceived until they are confronted with the truth. They will not seek a substitute to die in their place until they know they are condemned to death. No one will seek a Savior until they know they are destined for the torments of hell. They will not seek to be reconciled to God until they know they are separated from Him. No one will try to get on the narrow way that leads to life until they know they are on the broad way that leads to destruction. People can ever receive the righteousness of Christ as a gift until they are first stripped of their own righteousness.

No one will ever appreciate what the Lord Jesus has DONE until they come to the end of themselves and realize how hopeless and helpless they are to DO anything about it. Only then will they be willing to repent of all their dead works, which are an insult to the perfect, finished and sufficient work of Christ. May our Lord Jesus Christ receive honor, praise and glory for all that He is, and all that He has DONE to redeem His people!

He is the way for those who are lost (John 14:6)
He is the truth for those who are deceived (John 14:6)
He gives life to people who are spiritually dead (John 14:6)
He testified to the truth and truth seekers listen to Him (John 18:37)
He is the only one who can save sinners (Acts 4:12)
He bore His people's sin in His body on a tree (1 Peter 2:24)
He makes believers perfect forever (Heb. 10:14)
He cancels the eternal sin debt of believers (Col. 2:13-14)
He reconciles believers to God (2 Cor. 5:18-20)
He redeems believers from the curse of the law (Gal. 3:13)
He saves His people from God's wrath (1 Thes. 5:9)
He is able to save forever (Hebrews 7:25)
He gave His life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28)
He satisfied divine justice as a sacrifice for sin (1 John 2:2)
He shed His blood to purify His people from all sin (1 John 1:7)
He died once for all sins to bring believers to God (1 Pet. 3:18)
He offered one sacrifice for all sins for all time (Heb. 10:12)
He saved us from divine condemnation (Roman 8:1)
He delivered His people from the dominion of Satan (Acts 26:18)
He rescued believers from the domain of darkness and transferred       them into His kingdom (Col. 1:13)

In these days of growing uncertainty and anxiety over the global pandemic, we need to warn people that there is a much more hellish and fatal virus called sin that has infected every human being. The bad news is that there is nothing man can DO because there is no human cure. The good news is that there is a divine cure because of what the Lord Jesus Christ has DONE. Here is the greatest news anyone could ever hear from our Savior:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life" (John 5:24).

Would You Respond to This Recruiting Ad?

Men and women wanted for the difficult task of laboring in the fields that are white for harvest. You will face constant attacks from an invisible enemy who will try to distract you from your objective and destroy your effectiveness. You will be mocked, persecuted and ridiculed by his ministers of unrighteousness. You will often be discouraged and misunderstood by apathetic and lazy people working with you. Whenever you are persecuted for the sake of your King, you will be asked to leap for joy. The results of your labor and your full reward will not come until after all your work is completed. You will not be able to boast or take pride in what you do and it may cost you your life. However, you will enjoy compelling advantages over all competition by tapping unlimited resources from your headquarters' support team. The fruit of your labor will last for all eternity. And most importantly, the incomparable retirement program is out of this world!

This recruiting ad is an accurate description of what many Christians experience when they devote their lives to the Savior and His great commission. Tragically, many who have been called by Him into service have not reported for active duty or have gone AWOL. Some will gather in holy huddles on Sunday morning in their church, but when the play is called, they sit on the bench and watch others run the offense. Some say they are too busy, not equipped, or fearful of what people might say.

The call to be an ambassador for the King of kings is a royal privilege and an awesome responsibility for every Christian. Every time we proclaim His Gospel, we bring glory and honor and praise to the Name above all names! It is for this reason we created the Ambassador Training Program. We want to equip and encourage the Body of Christ to be faithful and effective witnesses for our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us know if you have any questions about the program or if you have any interest in serving our Lord with us.

The Fatal Deception of Empty Words and Hearts

Many of us are familiar with the sober warning of Jesus, who said, "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Mat. 7:13-14). In a recent message on these verses, Pastor John MacArthur points out that it's hard for sinners to come out of the lies of false religion. It's hard for those who have been deceived and blinded by Satan to come to a knowledge of the truth. This is an excellent message for professing Christians "to test yourselves to see if you are in the faith" (2 Cor. 13:5).
Letters to Edify and Encourage the Saints

Mike, I am discipling a Catholic woman in her 40's who is steeped in Catholic mysticism, miracles of the saints, and Eucharistic miracles, etc. She asked me if all these miracles of the Catholic saints down through the ages of history were of God. I told her, no, they were of the devil to deceive the people into believing and trusting in the Catholic Church's teaching and doctrine. Was I wrong? My question is: Is it possible that some of these men and women performed the miracles attributed to them because they might have been born again even though they were deeply Catholic? N.C., Prescott, AZ

Dear N.C., The Bible reveals that both God and Satan have power to manifest signs and wonders. W e are exhorted to test the spirits because  Satan's agenda is to destroy and kill and deceive (1 John 4:1). Jesus warned that "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect" (Mat. 24:24). Jesus used signs and wonders 2000 years ago to validate who He was "...many believed in His name, observing His signs which He was doing" (John 2:23). Now, "we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention" (2 Pet. 1:19). The Word of God is our supreme authority to discern truth from error. That is how we know that the Eucharist is a false Christ, because God's Word says Christ will remain in heaven until His enemies are made His footstool (Heb. 10:13). Therefore, any Eucharistic miracles would be of Satan, not of God. In response to your question, it is impossible for a born-again Christian to remain deeply Catholic because he must repent (change his mind) from Catholicism's false gospel of works in order to believe the Gospel of grace (Mark 1:15). Once she has been born-again of the Spirit, she will desire to leave his apostate church to worship God in Spirit and truth (John 4:24). I will join you in prayer for God to open her  eyes to see the truth.

Hi Mike, I recently stumbled onto your website and some youtube videos where you talked about the errors of the Catholic Church. I was born a Lutheran and converted to the Catholic Church about 12 years ago, about two weeks before my wedding. I'm sorry you've lost your way and left the Church. She will accept you back, you just have to make the first step. To cling to the Bible and ignore Church history doesn't seem logical. All Catholics are saved, provided they are not in mortal sin. You do not need to "save" them. You will have to answer on judgment day for any and all Catholics that you lead away from the Church. You are lost, but it is not too late to rejoin the Church. I will always be Catholic and never forsake the Church. Jon, Internet

Jon, Thank you for your email. God enabled me to do the same thing St. Paul did when God opened our eyes. His Word  convinced me to e
xchange my worthless religion for an eternal relationship with my Lord and Savior (Phil. 3:3-9). Catholicism taught me that salvation was conditional based on what I was DOING. However, my salvation as a Christian is unconditional because of what the Lord Jesus Christ has DONE for me. Ephesians 2:8-10 were key verses that set me free. I have not ignored church history. The Bible foretold that many would depart from the faith of the apostles to follow doctrines of demons (1 Tim. 4:1-4). Please see my article on Apostasy and you will see that your Catholic religion no longer resembles the first century church. It has a different gospel, a different Jesus and is led by a different
spirit (2 Cor. 11:4). Your only hope is to abide in God's Word to discover the truth that will set you free from from religious deception (John 8:32).

Hello Mike, I thank you for your dedication and commitment to our Catholic friends. I was a catholic for 29 years until I was saved 2 years ago. You and your ministry helped me to unveil and turn from the deception of Roman Catholicism. I am from the Philippines but is now based in Norway. There are still so many Filipinos who are deceived. We would like to invite you to Norway as a guest speaker. Norway needs revival. S.A., Tromso, Norway
Biblical Responses to Catholic Teaching

Catholic Teaching: Justification conforms us to the righteousness of God. It is the renewal of the inner man. Catholics are taught that they can recover the grace of justification, that is lost through mortal sin, through the sacrament of penance (Catechism of the Catholic Church, para. 1446, 2019, 2020).

Biblical Response:  Justification does not conform us to the righteousness of God, it changes the legal status of the believer. It is a judicial or forensic act by God, as Judge, whose verdict is according to Law. The Judge declares the repenting sinner not guilty and pronounces him righteous because the righteousness of Christ has been imputed to the believer and the believer's sin has been imputed to Christ (2 Cor. 5:21). The Law no longer condemns him (Roman 8:1).
May we all glorify our Lord Jesus Christ by sharing His Gospel within our circle of influence and beyond!
