BIANNUAL NEWSLETTER
We hope everyone is enjoying the summer! This past year has brought about so many changes for everyone including AC&W.
Our president, Sue Krul, decided to retire from the pet boarding industry in April which led to the sale of her popular Paws Here Awhile Pet Resort. As many of you know, the resort was home to AC&W for almost 20 years, and without a place to house our adoption pets, we had to make the difficult decision to put our adoption program on hold. However, we plan to start the adoptions again once we have our new plans in motion.
This may not happen till 2022, but we are looking ahead to a bright future.
We are still staying busy with some other exciting projects though. With the assistance of our partners at
Healthy Pet Products and Petco, we continue to gather many food, treat and toy donations for pets in need.
No Dog Left Behind (formerly PAART) gladly helps to distribute all these donations to families and shelters both locally and down south. Most recently, the donations collected went to Mayberry 4 Paws in North Carolina and and Freedom Fences in South Carolina. Both of these shelters have been struggling and the donations were very much appreciated. We are thankful to all our partners for their help during these trying times. We are honored to be part of this awesome ongoing mission and we are very grateful to all our generous donors.

We are also continuing to provide assistance for those who need their pets spayed or neutered. If you or someone you know needs financial help with spaying or neutering, please reach out to us. It might just be the most important thing you do for your pet. It helps avoid many health issues (including cancer), behavioral issues, and above all, helps control the pet population.
Please spread the word!

We are happy to announce that last year was our most successful year for adoptions to date. We rehomed 132 dogs and 92 cats bringing our total to 224! That is definitely one uplifting thing from 2020 worth talking about! Thanks to everyone who opened their homes to our adoption pets and gave them the second chance they deserved.
We couldn’t be happier!
'
Even though we had to discontinue our adoption program early this year, we were met with some surprisingly wonderful numbers. In only 3 months, we placed 53 pets into their new forever homes! We can only imagine what those numbers would be if we were able to continue with the program this year, but it only makes us more excited for next year.
HAPPY TAILS FOR PICKLES & TOOTSIE
My girls, Pickles and Tootsie, celebrated their 4th birthday! I can’t believe they are 4 years old already…They are truly spoiled and happy. New harnesses, beds, toys and a cake that was cut into bones and paws was given to them.  The girls are doing well. They go on two walks a day usually…I just wanted to drop you guys a line and let you know they are now 4 years old and doing pawtastic!...Love my fur kids so much! Thank you so much for letting me
adopt them!”

With all of the current changes, AC&W can no longer be reached through the resort phone number or email. However, you can still reach us is through our P.O. Box mailing address or email at [email protected]. We will be securing a new phone number in the future, and we will pass that information along as it becomes available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We also have a new website on the way. We are excited to showcase many of our success stories and adoption pets. You can also keep up to date with us through social media.
Thanks For The Memories
Saying Goodbye to Paws Here Awhile Pet Resort
As many of you know, Paws Here Awhile Pet Resort was home to AC&W since 2002. Since Sue Krul, our president, decided to open the doors to a new innovative boarding facility 19 years ago, it was only natural that it would become the perfect place for AC&W to continue its legacy. The resort provided us with an enriching cage free place to house our adoption pets until they found their forever families. It gave us the means to care for those who could not care for themselves and provided a welcoming stress free environment for our adoption program. This is something that you cannot find in a shelter.

So it was with a heavy heart that Sue made the difficult decision to retire from the resort this year. The sale of Paws Here Awhile has left us with some challenging hurdles ahead, but we are already working on some new innovative ways to continue our adoption program in the coming year.
We have so many happy memories, but the best ones were always made when one of our pets would find his or her forever home. Nothing can compare with the feeling of connecting the perfect pet with the perfect family and having them meet for the very first time. It was even better when our previous adopters came back to adopt again!
Some of our other favorite memories came when we were blessed with the opportunity to reunite with some of our former adoption pets. Often times, they would come back to vacation at the resort and spend some time with us. They always seemed as happy as we were to see each other again!

We have so many pictures we would like to share, but we can only share a few. Words cannot express what these past 19 years have meant for us, but we are looking forward to the future now.

We will all miss Paws Here Awhile Pet Resort. We want to thank Sue for opening her doors to AC&W and providing us with so many wonderful memories. We placed over 2000 pets during our time at the resort and each one holds a special place in our hearts. So as we say goodbye, we look forward to the new opportunities on the horizon for AC&W. Thank you for joining this journey with us! We hope you will be with us for the next chapter that is waiting to be written…
“Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life.” - James Cromwell
