To the Beloved Community
Summer is the season for bbqs, cookouts, picnics, grilling out - whatever you call it, we soak in the sun, kick back, eat some terrific food, play music, sing, dance, talk, and enjoy the company of family and friends. It is good.

But notice something about those events, those moments - there is always room for one more. Doesn't matter the occasion, but the openness, generosity, and willingness to pull up another chair is central to whole thing. We are expansive, inclusive, welcoming.

That's who God created us to be. That's who Jesus calls us to be. That's what the church was supposed to be throughout these two millennia - and has been in fits and starts. The church isn't a club that you join, it's an ongoing cookout - and even then, it is but a foretaste of the feast to come.

Make no mistake, though, the fellowship we are having right now, the richness of the life God has made for each one of us, is something to be shared, with everyone.

So, let us go and invite folks to the cookout, let us live into the spirit of openness, welcome, and generosity.

There is always room for one more.

Peace,
Pastor Ken

Livestreaming Switching to YouTube - September 10th
Starting Sunday, September 10th, we will livestream our Worship services from our YouTube channel (instead of Facebook)

To prepare for that change, I invite you to subscribe to our YouTube channel - which you can find by clicking on this link: Genesis Lutheran - Detroit

When you get to our channel, press the 'Subscribe' button, and save the web address on your bookmark bar.

On Sundays (and Wednesdays too - once Bible Study is back up and running) when you go to the channel, you want to look for 'LIVE' (I've highlighted this in the picture).

I'll be putting together a video 'how-to' guide next week.

We are moving to YouTube because it is just so much more accessible - and frankly, it's easier to stream from YouTube.

Thanks for subscribing and creating a 'new normal' for our livestreaming.
A Global Beloved Community
I wanted to share a beautiful card that we received from one of the faithful members of our online community.

Carol discovered us during the pandemic, and has been a part of our community ever since. Carol lives in Mossley in the United Kingdom.

We are so glad that Carol is a part of our family of faith. May God ever walk with her - and all of us on this pilgrim journey. We are blessed to walk together.
