PRACTICE OF FAITH
In our walk with Christ, we seek to surrender more and more of ourselves to him who held nothing back from us.
SUSCIPE
St. Ignatius of Loyola
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, by memory, my understanding, and my entire will, all that I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, O Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace, that is enough for me.
Please continue to self-screen. Stay home if you are not feeling well and celebrate Mass with us via livestream. We are doing our best to continue to provide a safe space to worship for everyone. Click here to see current COVID safety measures.

Thank you for your prayers for the success of the Harry Potter Retreat! Here's what some of the youth had to say about it:
- It was very fun
- The sacramental pause video was really interesting!
- A fun 3 days where you can connect with new people!
- The snacks they had were really good and quidditch was so fun!
- I thank everyone who helped plan this fun, exciting retreat! I loved all the junk food! I loved learning how to play quidditch.
- Harry Potter Retreat: fun and games and prayer and reflection! A wonderful place to come and spend your weekend!
- The HP retreat is a powerful experience that connects Harry Potter to the bible.

If everyone continues to fulfill their pledges, this will make an annual rebate of $25,000, in which 50% will be used to pay for the parking lot renovation and 50% will go towards our Outreach efforts. Thank you to all who have paid AND continue to pay their Annual Appeal pledge.

THE LITTLE WAY OF MARRIAGE
Saturday, October 15 after the 5;00pm Mass
|
|
St. Therese became one of the greatest saints by learning to do little things with great love. St. Therese Teaches us:
-
how to be other-centered
-
how to trust in God
-
how little actions done for others with great love can transform our lives (and the world!)
The Little Way of Marriage take these powerful spiritual truths from St. Therese and shows you how to apply them to your Catholic marriage.
With the realities and responsibilities of daily life, raising kids, balancing work and home, you look up and realize the connection you enjoy is not always there. There is a longing for deeper connection in all marriages. No matter where you are in your marriage, here’s the good news we want to share with you - Doing little things with great love can open your marriage to the transformative power of God’s grace.
Please join us for this presentation by:

We are a month away from our Gala Dinner and Auction!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 5th – join us for Mass at 4:00 or come at 5:00 to start Bidding and Bond-ing.
Invitations are coming. Raffle ticket sales are starting up as well.
You can purchase a seat for the dinner after Mass, on our website, or in the church office during the week. Dinner will be a Surf ‘N Turf plate and admission is $100/Secret Agent.
We are currently accepting items for the auction. If there is something you would bid on, then others would too. If there are establishments that you frequent, please ask if they would be willing to donate. Let them know it is a special anniversary for us at SJV.
We will have a wine game again this year, but the liquor laws are different than 3 years ago. We cannot sell any alcohol at less than its market value. Therefore, we need to adhere to the following rules:
- Please donate your favorite bottle of under $25 wine (do not exceed $24.99).
- The wine game will have a $25 price.
- Just remember, whichever bottle you end up with was someone at the parish’s favorite under $25 wine.
- Exciting way to try what may become your new and affordable favorite!
A few parishioners responded to the request for making centerpieces, and one of those volunteers stepped up to head the table decorations committee. We have come up with an amazing centerpiece. If any parishioners were planning on making a centerpiece to bring to the auction, thank you for considering it – we would love to have you join us at the next meeting for the centerpieces or for the general decorations committee. Many hands make LIGHT work! Thank you.
We would also love to have you join us in setting up for the gala, cleaning up for the gala, or if this is not your year to join us at the gala – please buy a raffle ticket or two, donate some items, or come work during the auction. Signups for auction volunteers are at the welcome table in the Narthex.
Thank you – we can’t wait to celebrate our SJV family together!

From “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” what type of outfit did Bond wear to the dinner with the women of Piz Gloria? Bonus Points: What is Piz Gloria?
Answer: Being Scottish, Bond wore a kilt to the formal dinner in the tradition of his family for formal occasions. Bonus Points: Piz Gloria is a mountain top retreat center which housed The Institute for Psychological Research. Supposedly, it was researching allergy treatments, but in reality, was conduction biological warfare studies.
New Question: What sport were the Piz Gloria ladies playing on the ice in “On Her Majesty’s Service?”

STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE PLANNING GUIDE
|
|
This handy planning guide can help you plan your yearly giving. You do not need to return it or even fill it out. It is provided for you to think and pray about your stewardship giving.
Begin the process of planning your wise use of money by praying; asking the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and actions. Planning to use our financial and material resources as a good steward helps us look at daily expenses through the eyes of our relationship with God, and gain a wider view into the needs of others. May we find joy in giving, as gratitude for the blessings we have been given!
