During a Christmas Eve service, a minister explained that during biblical times travelers knew there was still room for lodging if there was a candle burning in the window of the inn. If there was no candle lit, there was no room; if there was a candle lit, there was room.
Jesus is like a lit candle. Although His great adversary, the Devil, tried to snuff out his light when he was crucified on the cross, his resurrection reminds us that his light still shines ever brightly, inviting all to come into a relationship with Him (John 3:16; John 8:12).
The candlelight may not have been burning in the window because there was no more room at the inn for Joseph and Mary, but there is still room at the cross. For you. For me. For all.
