New Books!

We are VERY excited to now offer you, exclusively at Sassy Stitches, books by Cindy Williams, aka "The Math Whisperer"!  Cindy is a master at taking the math out of piecing. Most of her books are about techniques.  A few patterns can be found in her collection.  We have "Sprinkles" on display in the shop. These are the books we have in stock!

Ten fun, quick and accurate techniques are in this book, all with charts for making different sizes. We demo these techniques when we vend and we hear lots of people say "wait...what?". 26 full color pages

The perfect reference for adding pieced borders to your quilts. Four major categories of pieced borders are addressed and guess what - only ONE category needs calculating! How cool is that? Over 50 quilts are shown both with and without pieced borders so you can see the difference. This is not a pattern book but rather a reference book that you will go back to time after time. 74 full color pages

(Staff favorite!) The reference book to beat all reference books. One hundred fifty-four color pages of seam allowances, charts, worksheets and diagrams for every quilting question you could think to ask. No patterns - but how to cut and sew everything from simple squares to fractured 60° diamonds. How I do mitered borders, charts on diagonal sets, how to cut most shapes without having to purchase specialty rulers (YIPEE!). full color

Sprinkles is a very sweet quilt that would be perfect for a baby.  It would also be great for a wall hanging or table topper.

A "Nuts and Bolts" book about how you can make unique quilts with ordinary blocks and sensational sets. Join Cindy in thinking outside the box when assembling your quilt blocks. Do something unexpected using the information in Setting Solutions and easily give your quilts that WOW factor.

Come check out this great selection of one-of-a-kind
books that you will use over and over again!

NEW WOOL!!
I got a message from a customer that a lady had closed her shop and was trying to sell all of her remaining wool.  WELL - I helped her out with that problem!!  She had a fantastic selection from which to choose.  We now have lots of beautiful textured and hand dyed wools for wool applique and rug hooking.  We have also added wool felt which is a nice alternative to wool.  We will be getting more colors of wool felt in soon.
You really have to come see it all in person!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sassy Stitches will now be carrying Valdani thread! Not only does it pair so very nicely with our new wool, it also works great for punch needle.  We will soon have the needles and some kits for punch needle fun!  Classes will be announced as soon as we get all of our supplies! I just placed our first order and hope to receive it very soon.  I will keep you posted and share pictures when all that beautiful floss arrives.  Stay tuned!

  2. How to use Triangulations CD for making half-square triangle units.
  3. How to sew Connector Corners.
  4. How to set a center medallion on-point and do some piecing in what would otherwise by plain setting triangles.
  5. How to make the quilt fit the border.
  6. How to do mitered borders the easy way and have perfect results.
  7. How to do a bit of foundation piecing - which is different from paper piecing.
There will be a maximum of 10 students. The class meetings, except for the first meeting, are full days of sewing and learning.

Message from Jan - our longarm quilter!!!

After trying it three times and each time, messing up her long arm machine, Jan will no longer accept any quilts that have the Joann brand of backing.  She has only had problems with the white on white backing.  However, if she receives a backing from Joann's and it feels like the white on white that has messed up her machine, she will not accept it.  She is NOT saying there is anything wrong with that fabric.  She is saying her machine doesn't like it. There is a residue on that fabric that gums up her machine and causes it to stop working.  Her husband has had to spend many hours getting all the gunk out of her machine.  She even tried some of the fabric after it was washed and it still caused problems on her machine.  Thanks for understanding!  AND - you remember you can always get good, quality fabric at Sassy Stitches so you won't have this problem!

Until next Sunday, have a wonderful week and come see us!

Policies, Our Charity Focus, and More Info
Here you will find our Sassy Cash Policy, Information about our Charity Focus, and other pertinent information.  We sure do appreciate your business!

---------------------------------------------------
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases or fabric donations for making pillow cases. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
