A Note from our Executive Director
Dear friend,
It has been some time since my children were in diapers, but I remember how expensive they were, and what a relief it was when they became potty trained. Families spend an average of $50 - $100 per month on diapers. Most babies go through 12 diapers per day which is a cost that adds up very quickly especially when the health of your child is at stake.
Unlike food or housing, there are no government programs that provide diapers. For a family with one or more young children in Santa Barbara County, parents sometimes choose between clean diapers and paying rent, or buying food.
There has been no diaper bank in Santa Barbara. Until now. I’m delighted to let you know that IVYP has become a member of the National Diaper Bank Network. We began providing diapers to babies in need in February and since then, we have distributed almost 35,000 diapers! But, we are just scratching the surface.
This week is Diaper Awareness Week. I ask you to consider making a gift to our diaper fund, so that we can purchase more diapers. If you’re really motivated, please consider making a bigger gift, so that we can grow our capacity to share diapers across the county. If we work together, we can do this!
