Congratulations to our 2019 Night of Champions Honorees!
Leading up to Night of Champions we will be highlighting our honorees and how they are providing Collier students with life-changing learning experiences. Today we introduce you to three of our twelve Night of Champions Honorees.
Chuck & Corky Carlsen
Chuck and Corky first became involved with Champions For Learning by mentoring two students through the Take Stock in Children program.
Chuck joined the Board of Directors and serves as the Vice Chair of Community Outreach. His leadership with the Champions For Learning Ambassadors Council has helped the volunteer outreach group to recruit a significant number of volunteers and mentors. Chuck and Corky are also this year's Mentors of the Year.
Sharon Hood
Sharon has always had a passion for education and the unsung heroes shaping our nation's children in school. Sharon firmly believes that children are our future and she wants them to have every opportunity to grow. As founder and publisher of èBella magazine, Sharon enjoys telling her 22,000 readers about Champions For Learning and how they can get involved. Supporting Champions For Learning aligns with èBella's charter to support local charities and brings awareness to the resources they offer.
Mike Martin
As current President of Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), Mike has brought his philosophy that to be a good citizen people need to participate in the community. "We're all in this together and I should get up and do my share. I have a responsibility to participate and Champions For Learning inspires me to do that." Mike continues, "Education transforms community and society. It is how we invest in future leaders. It is one of the most important things we can do."
The 5th Annual Night of Champions event will honor these community leaders for making life-changing learning experiences for students.
