Things are happening! I'm so excited about the progress of this painting. It's not finished yet, but we're getting close. My next steps will be to re-outline the entire piece and add additional highlights and shadows to really bring it to life. My goal is to have it finished by the end of this month.
This painting reminds me each day that even the most familiar spaces never stay the same. Every day brings small changes - the objects on the counter change, the lighting shifts, and things get moved around as different people use the space to get ready for another day. The painting will stay the same, a moment frozen in time, but in real life the room continues to change and evolve.
I'm capturing just one simple moment. Moments like this happen every day and usually pass without much notice. People often assume it's the big moments that shape us, but in reality it's these small, everyday moments that define who we are. These are the stories I'm interested in capturing, and there is no end to them.
| | NEW In The Leftovers Series | | |
It has been quite a busy month in the studio! These two smaller pieces, Breaking and Standing, were created entirely from the leftover paint used for the bathroom painting shown above. While they share the same colors and materials, they tell a completely different story. I never begin these pieces with a plan. Instead, I allow the image to emerge naturally as a response to the color and the texture of the drying paint.
I'm very happy with how both of these pieces turned out! I love that even such small pieces can hold their own. Both pieces are now available for purchase.
