Jean Vanier Research Centre opens at King's University College

King's University College at Western University is the chosen home of the new Jean Vanier Research Centre, dedicated to examining and building on Vanier's work.

The Critical Security Studies program will be available as a certificate and diploma program and will be the first such program in Canada.

Congratulations to Dr. Laura Melnyk Gribble for being selected as our next Associate Academic Dean, effective July 1, 2019. Please congratulate Laura when you see her!

Emergency Messaging Testing

Western will test Alert WesternU, the university emergency mass notification system, at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8. No action is needed; it is only a test.  See more about Alert WesternU.

Other emergency alerting systems being tested next week include:
 
Alert Ready.  Will conduct tests on TV, radio and compatible wireless devices at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday May 8 , in Ontario.
 
Alert London. Will conduct tests beginning at 10:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 9.
St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre

On the first and second Saturday of the month, King's gathers at the St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre on Dundas Street to foster community with our brothers and sisters in the core of the city. We provide music, crafts, something to eat and some fellowship. They provide us stories of hope.

Campuses Connected Conference

Campuses Connected brings together faculty and staff interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning at Huron, Brescia, and King's University Colleges, Western University, and other institutions. King's faculty and staff are invited to attend. Register now!

Lunafest Film Festival

LUNAFEST is a program of short films about women created by women. It's about giving women the opportunity to tell their stories and opening the door for filmmakers who might not otherwise be given the chance to show their art.

Speaking with Friends

Friends of the London Public Library  invite you to an evening with author and King's alumna Jennifer Robson, who will discuss her best-selling historical fiction and read from her latest novel, The Gown. Reception with book sale and signing to follow.

Charity and Justice Symposia

These two symposia will bring together frontline agencies, topic experts, students, faith-based sector advocates, and social policy champions to examine the meaning, implications, and outcomes of charity and justice models for social support.

London Grands and King's present an evening in conversation with Ilana Landsberg-Lewis.  Ilana Landsberg-Lewis is the Senior Advisor to the Board & Co-Founder of the  Stephen Lewis Foundation .

LSAT Preparation Course for Low-Income Students

Western Law is offering free LSAT Preparation for low-income students. Course includes all study materials and practice tests. LSAT fees are waived.

Stratford Festival - Othello

Save the Date for Othello at the Stratford Festival! This year's annual Stratford Festival event features a performance of William Shakespeare's Othello.

The Undergraduate Awards

The Undergraduate Awards acknowledge excellence in undergraduate academia across all disciplines through an international call for top scholarly submissions. Global Gold Medal recipients of The Undergraduate Awards are invited to Dublin, Ireland for an all-expenses-paid trip to receive their medal and attend a three-day Global Summit. Highly Commended (top 10%) are invited to attend the Global Summit.

Deadline to apply is June 11.
Jean Vanier Symposium Film Night

Disability Studies at King's and the Jean Vanier Research Centre are proud to present  Love is Listening: Dementia without lonelinessfeaturing insights from Jean Vanier and other globally recognized authorities in the arts, sciences, and spiritual traditions.

Smoke-Free Campus

The University recognizes that the change to a smoke-free campus will be welcome news to some members of the community and it has the potential to cause concern for some others. Together, with the Joint Health and Safety Committee, a decision has been made to move towards being a smoke-free campus by July 1, 2019.
2019 Summer Session at Shenzhen University

Study at Shenzhen University this summer (July 8th to August 9th) and earn credits towards your King's degree. There are five free tuition spots available for King's students.
King's PRO-AM

King's is hosting its third PRO-AM at Highland Country Club, in conjunction with the Freedom 55 Financial Championship of the MacKenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada. Whether you enjoy the comradery of a great day of golf, or are seeking a few tips to improve your game, you won't be disappointed with our 2019 King's PRO-AM. Limited spots available, so register early!
