AAYLS Youth Making A Difference in Their Schools
African American Young Ladies Summit Program
This year in AAYLS we are focusing on creating and supporting leadership in our young ladies. We have incorporated a component called Issues to Action where our young ladies are asked-what is going on in their schools or communities that they would like to change. We then lead them through a process of leading this change.

Some of our students have spurred real change, for example working with their school administrators' to create Black History programming.

Another recent example of leadership is the effort of our 7th grade young ladies at McAuliffe International School. Read more  here. Join us in celebrating them.
Dr. McCune Presents Deep-Dive at National
Trauma-Sensitive Conference 2020

Dr. Plashan McCune presented a deep-dive session at the National Trauma-Sensitive Schools Conference, attended by 1,800 educators and administrators from across the nation, February 16-18 in Atlanta, GA.

"Participants were excited to take back practices to use in their own settings," McCune says. "Each of my participants left with a plan tailored to meet their needs. I had them email the plans and look forward to hearing about the progress."
