Remembrance Day Ceremony

Canadians pause on November 11th in silence to remember those who died in war and to pray for the victims of aggression and inhumanity throughout the world. Our community will be observing the day by gathering at the flagpoles in front of King's University College at 10:45 a.m. The service will conclude shortly after 11 a.m.

Names Instead of Numbers: Forum on Rights and Citizenship in War and Peace

King's History Department is hosting Names Instead of Numbers, an international travelling exhibition in the Student Life Centre from November 5th - 14th. Explore a collection of biographies of former prisoners from across Europe who were deported to Dachau concentration camp between 1933 and 1945. The exhibition features 20 biographies from the Dachau Remembrance Book project, which was compiled by students and researchers on the basis of interviews with camp survivors and their relatives. The display banners include original documents and pictures.

Full-time OSAP Students Income Update

All Full-Time OSAP students are required to re-confirm the income amounts reported on their OSAP application. Please do this no later than December 5th, 2014 or you may experience a delay with the release of your January OSAP funding. OSAP has been/will be sending out information regarding this step as well, either through email or mail, depending on the correspondence option you chose.

To update your income online, log into the OSAP website, go to your 2014-2015 application, and click "Confirm Income." Review the income information, make the appropriate changes as necessary, and click "Submit".

Students needing to update Scholarship/Bursary/Award amounts on their OSAP application will need to come into the Student Financial Services at King's with their SIN card and valid Government Issued Photo I.D. as this category cannot be updated online. You will need to complete an "OSAP On-Line Change Form" to update this section. This form is available from Student Financial Services or the King's website under the OSAP section on Money Matters.

Would you like to perform at King's Cultural Festival 2015?

The 12th Annual King's Cultural Festival will take place on Wednesday, February 4th, 2015, 7-10pm in the Darryl J. King Student Life Centre. The Festival is the largest multicultural event on King's campus, with speakers and performances from around the world, and is attended by over 300 people from King's, Western and the London community. This event celebrating diversity and community spirit will bring together Canadian students, international students, exchange students, faculty, staff and community members both on the stage and in the audience.

Performances showcasing various cultural traditions may include: dance, singing, poetry, acrobatics, story-telling, country presentations and more. Performances usually last between 3-5 minutes. King's students attend Munk Debate on Obama's Foreign Policy

A group of students from the King's Political Science Students' Association and the King's Debating Society took a trip to Toronto on Wednesday, November 5th for the Munk Debate on Obama's foreign policy. The debaters challenged the motion that, "Be it resolved Obama's foreign policy is emboldening our enemies and making the world a more dangerous place..."

The goal of the Munk Debates is to enliven and elevate public discussion in Canada of the major issues shaping the course of world events.

Student Appreciation Week Nov. 17 - 21

We love our King's students! Student Appreciation Week gives us an opportunity to show it. Watch for sales, specials, giveaways and prize draws at The King's Connection, the Library, The Thames Market and the Student Life Centre.

All week, various King's offices will have treats and ballots for the Student Appreciation Week Prize Draw. Events include:

Opportunities to serve in our community

Advent Drive for Young Families

Imagine what it would have been like for Mary and Joseph: to be young, in a foreign land and with no place to give birth. Then imagine what an honour it would be to provide them with necessary provisions and refuge. For Advent, our faith community will be welcoming donations of diapers, clothing, sleepers and other items needed for the care of infants. Please bring your unwrapped and new gifts to honour the Christ-Child. Donations can be left at the side altar under the statue of St. Joseph. Your gifts will be given to the London Crisis Pregnancy Centre, to assist families who struggle with the financial obligations of raising a child.

Step Into Christmas

Step Into Christmas is our Christmas initiative in conjunction with our outreach program at the St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre. We invite you to fill shoeboxes with socks, gloves, hats, toiletries and other items for those who are in need. These boxes will be distributed to people during our December visit at the St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre. Shoeboxes can be left at Mary's altar, to the left of the main altar any time between now and December 10, 2014.
