News & Resources
Not sure who to vote for on June 2nd?
Autism Ontario has put together a fantastic toolkit on key election items, as it relates to those with special needs. Where does each party stand on areas like housing, Autism and ODSP funding? What questions should we ask of your candidates?

The outcome of this election could have very important consequences. Many party platforms lack detail when it comes to addressing critical gaps in supports and services for autistic adults.
Advocating for Children & Youth With Physical Disabilities

Navigating this world is difficult enough, but for parents of children with disabilities, it is hard to even know where to begin.
The Easter Seals organization is a good place to start, with their Parent Advocacy Kit. They offer a number of resources, to help parents learn how to effectively support their child.

Creating a Safe Online Community

The Internet can be a scary place, but Ability Online has created a comfortable space for you to hang out in.
These online communities are comprised primarily of people who share the challenges associated with disabilities and/or chronic illness; whether a parent, child, or youth. Communities are interest focused and designed to be fully integrated with moderators and mentors to make sure the environment is safe, helpful, & fun.
Just friends meeting friends!
Empower Simcoe's Golf Tournament

Spectrum Financial is proud to once again support the Empower Simcoe Golf Tournament. This year's event proceeds will support Lakeshore Ridge; their new supported living home in Oro-Medonte for adults with multiple & complex needs.
Summer Play
With school ending in the coming month, here are some sensory ideas to keep the kids engaged:
  • Visit a farm or petty zoo
  • Setting up an indoor or outdoor tent can provide hours of fun and a safe space to retreat to for quiet time
  • Make up some messy stations and let them go wild outdoors ~ silly putty, coloured spaghetti, paint, shaving cream - anything goopy!
  • Give them a section of your garden to dig in.

Have Fun !!!
