Think Pink Living Centre June Newsletter

Think Pink Program Facilitator of the Month

Anna Horgan

I have been involved with Think Pink since November, 2018 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

After surgical treatment and 12 months of treatment with both chemo and radiotherapy, my understanding of this disease became more personal and intense! I was fortunate to be directed to Think Pink for support and sessions with Andrea Cannon and other staff members and volunteers.

As a consequence, my ability to live with cancer became more positive and meaningful.

I had been involved in education throughout my professional life, and believe that the ability to communicate successfully is determined by the ability of educators to connect with their clients meaningfully.

The staff at Think Pink demonstrated these abilities and values and I am determined to offer my services as a volunteer with Journal Writing sessions.

Creative writing, as any art form is not only therapeutic but also a source enjoyment and fun. I hope that the writing sessions I am now facilitating are a source of positive creativity, peace, joy and self-love, in the hope of supporting all our clients.

Thank you for this opportunity to serve!

The Think Pink Living Centre remains closed as part of the Victorian Government's COVID-19 virus restrictions to protect the health of our clients, staff, and visitors.
With the Living Centre closed at present, the introduction of online classes via Zoom has lead to a reconnection of many past clients from regional areas and outer suburbs.

The popularity of the Think Pink online classes has increased the demand for services and provides clients the opportunity to renew or develop new friendships and interests.

A recent survey of our current Zoom activities has found that clients are learning and importantly enjoying this new style of connection with Think Pink, which will continue once the Think Pink Living Centre is reopened, complementing the onsite activities.

The full list of programs and times are comprehensively listed on the Think Pink website.

On behalf of the Board and the clients of Think Pink, I would like to thank all of our staff, volunteers, ambassadors and sponsors, who through these difficult times, enable the Think Pink Living Centre to provide free services and support to our clients and their families.

Reopening the Think Pink Living Centre

The date for reopening cannot be made at present as we are strictly following the Government's advice and are monitoring the situation.
We would request that anyone entering the Think Pink Living Centre at Docklands have the COVIDSafe App installed on their mobile phone for the safety of themselves, clients and staff.
