ThinkGive in Action at Our Sisters' School!
Our Sisters' School (OSS) in New Bedford, MA, serves 5th-8th grade girls. This month teachers asked their 5th graders to consider what values they find most important to uphold, and what values they look for in others. Then the girls were challenged to give kindness to a student in another grade who embodies those values. In this way, they could start to build meaningful relationships with others in their school community who have the potential to be important mentors in their lives.
Each word represents a value the
student deems most important to uphold.
At OSS, ThinkGive provides their 5th graders with the opportunity to learn how to generate kindness in their lives and in the lives of others. This is critical to teaching them skills such as thoughtful leadership, ways to positively impact their communities, and establishing and maintaining healthy relationships. ThinkGive provides a space for OSS teachers to engage the class in important conversations like these and enables the girls to experience firsthand their ability to be changemakers at school and beyond.
