Save the date - Thinking intersectionality: Re-Imagining equity, diversity, and inclusion in the academy with Kimberlé Crenshaw

Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term Intersectionality in 1989 to explain how overlapping or intersecting social identities combine to affect those most marginalized by oppression, domination, or discrimination to a far greater extent and in a much more complex way than any single factor.

She is a widely cited scholar, popular author and podcaster, influential advocate, and highly sought-after speaker on topics including civil rights, critical race theory, Black feminist legal theory, and structural racism.

The University of Calgary is extremely proud to host Professor Kimberlé Crenshaw on March 18 for a moderated discussion on how the concepts of intersectionality can advance equity, diversity, and inclusion in an academic institutional structure. The concepts will be valuable not only to proponents of EDI at the University of Calgary, but to leaders and participants in other institutional settings.

When: March 18, 2024, 9 - 11 a.m.

Where: Red & White Club, 1833 Crowchild Trail NW
