Dear Carroll Community,

Thank you for your support in making the first week of virtual learning a success. Archbishop Carroll has shown resiliency during this trying time, and we are grateful for the willingness of our faculty, staff, administration and students to work together.

The Third Quarter will still end as scheduled on Friday, March 27th. Teachers will begin communicating with their students on Monday and Tuesday regarding any outstanding work that exists from assignments and tests from prior to our moving to Homebound Education. Teachers in courses that specifically work with programs that are only available to students in school have made adjustments to ensure that they can accommodate all of their students with substantial work. Should you have any questions regarding work for your child, please contact the teacher directly.

Students must adhere to all the dates and deadlines given by their teacher, just as they would if we were in school. The last deadline for any Q3 work will be at 11:59 PM on Friday, March 27th.

We will be implementing a Mini Testing Cycle for the end of the Third Quarter to allow students to take any final assessments they need to take. Teachers will adhere to the following Testing Cycle:
Notes on the Schedule:

This schedule only applies to teachers assigning full-period (30-35 minute) tests. If a teacher is not giving a test, they are welcome to assign other work with due dates at their discretion as they would do otherwise. Teachers will post specific start and end times for their assessments within the listed time periods on Google Classroom.

We have created a schedule that will hopefully minimize any conflicts or overlap. Should a student have two tests in a specific time window (i.e. - two sciences on Wednesday, or two BCIT courses on Friday), once the student is aware they have two tests, they should then e-mail BOTH of their teachers to inform them of this issue. The teachers will work with the student to administer one of the tests in another open window on the same day, or at a different time.

Students with accommodations: Mr. Fryberger and your teacher will be in touch to coordinate anything needed for your assessments.

Make-Up Assessments (Tests assigned previously to Homebound Instruction):

Students who still need to make up tests from earlier in Q3, prior to our moving to Homebound Instruction: Your teacher will be in contact with you to schedule a time to take your assessments this week. To ensure continuity, these assessments will still be given in full and only modified as necessary to be completed online.

Make-up Assessments can be completed through Monday, March 30th, but no later.

Incomplete Grades:

Per the Parent-Student Handbook and the Course Catalog, the only students who will be issued an “Incomplete” grade for a specific marking period are those who have a documented valid medical excuse. All other students are expected to have all of their work completed on time.
Please remember to check in for attendance, and to read the full Parent/Student bulletin each day, as many important announcements about Course Selection, College Board Testing, and other materials are updated each day. Our Coronavirus Information Page is also updated regularly, and has important information, including Virtual Clubs, Activities and Athletic Announcements. Our community will continue to receive timely information from Archbishop Carroll as the weeks progress. If you have any questions regarding the 3rd quarter testing cycle, please contact [email protected] .

Sincerely,
Dr. Anchen Schulz, Archbishop Carroll Principal

Mr. William Gennaro, Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs
