HTSI Vacancies


The post holder will be a senior development officer leading a series of new activities and areas of development for HTSI around their strategic ambitions. They will work closely and directly with the Chief Officer and the Senior Development Officer for the Digital and Membership Team to deliver the wider range of regionally based and driven responsibilities of the organisations and its TSI functions. As part of their individual role they will work with a range of partners and stakeholders and must be confident in building relationships and networks across sectors. They will lead on activities specifically related, but not restricted to, employability, training, political engagement and mentoring. Together with the HTSI CO, they will consider how the overall performance of the organisation is managed and ensure delivery of the annual operating plan.

Salary: £25,614, progressing to £28,895

The post holder will be responsible for raising awareness of the benefits of Green Health in Highland and supporting the work of the Partnership. The aim will be to increase public, and organisational, engagement to help tackle health inequalities by improving understanding of the health benefits of connection with nature, and the opportunities available to individuals. This will involve a range of tasks around the scheduling of key messaging across various media channels, maintaining the Think Health Think Nature website and directory, managing the generic e-mail account and the development of campaigns. This post is hosted and administered by the Highland Third Sector Interface on behalf of the Highland Green Health Partnership. The post holder will be an employee of HTSI.

The post will provide a person-centred service that is responsive to individual aspirations and needs of people coming through the custody centre and who want to engage with the project as a method of reducing their chances of returning to custody in the future. They will help the individual to identify issues which have or could lead them to offend, their life aspirations and hopes, and agree a plan of action to work on achieving those aspirations and reduce the chances of offending in future. The post holder will help to identify any barriers and will explore options to address these barriers with the individuals. The role will also have responsibility for providing a similar service to individuals who access support through Café 1668 on Church Street. This will involve working and forming close relationships across the two functional areas of HTSI and other community-based services.

Development Officer (Funding and Fundraising)


The post will be one of a team of development officer posts across the organisation but with a regional remit specifically around supporting the management of funding distributed to the Third Sector by HTSI, as well as a source of support for the Sector in Highland around funding and fundraising.
Intermittently, HTSI act as a conduit for funding to the sector in Highland and to ensure that this is done fairly and efficiently, fully taking the opportunity to demonstrate the value and impact of the sector as a delivery mechanism, we are now looking to develop a dedicated role. The post will be responsible for working with stakeholders, designing, managing and co-ordinating the implementation of funding processes. They will also have primary responsibility for drafting reports and providing assurance to the CO, HTSI Board and funding partners.

The post holder will be responsible for leading advice and guidance to the sector around fundraising ensuring that they are informed of the regulatory and legal information necessary. 

They will also support the development of training and reference material for a stronger Third Sector across the Highlands, including delivery of training, workshops and policy development relevant to the speciality areas connected with this post.
Salary: £23,541, progressing to 26,516 pro rata

Development Officer (Resilience Network) 


The post will be responsible for supporting the establishment of the newly developed Highland Third Sector Resilience Network, including embedding the current process and developing stage two of the projects to encourage more collaboration across groups within communities. They will also have responsibility for formalising and maintaining a wide variety of partnerships to create referral processes necessary for joint planning at community or organisational level.   
The post is intended to support the next stage of development for the network and is currently funded for another 12 months with ambitions to establish something more permanent subject to funding. There are a clear set of outcomes expected around embedding much of this workstream into main TSI functions within Highland throughout the coming year.

Skye Cycle Way – Phase 2 Development

Broadford and Strath Community Company

Skye Cycle Way – Bridge to Broadford Path is a community-led project to provide a safe route for cyclists, walkers and wheelers between the Skye Bridge and Broadford.
We are a seeking a freelance contractor to progress the Ashaig to Broadford section of the route (Phase 2) over the coming months. This will entail working with the Highland Council, engineering contractors, local residents and other stakeholders to progress the detailed route design and secure access agreements. The contractor will work closely with the Skye Cycle Way Project Officer and volunteer working group.
The successful candidate will have strong consultation and negotiating skills and experience of community engagement and project management

Ideally the applicant will be resident with Skye and Lochalsh. However, applications will be considered from anyone living within a daily commute of Broadford.

Events and Outreach Coordinator

Gairloch Museum

We are looking to recruit an experienced, committed and welcoming individual to coordinate our events and outreach programme.
Thanks to support from the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, a significant part of this role will focus on reducing social isolation through activities for those within our community who face challenges.
The post holder will work in collaboration with GAMS and West Highland College.

Part time Support Worker

Mikeysline is a Highland based mental health awareness and suicide prevention charity established in 2015. We support both young people and adults through our evening text-based services and on a 1:1 basis at our appointment and drop-in centre at the Hive. In February 2021, we launched an additional pilot service to support young people who are experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues and we are now building on that to expand our outreach support into the Easter Ross area and work directly with schools, in some cases providing 1:1 support, in others, speaking and presenting to classes and pupil councils.

Following the publication of the Community Action Plan it is clear that our aspirations will require more funding than is available to us from the income we receive from windfarms and hydro. The role of the Community Fundraiser is to help raise additional funds to ensure the financial stability of the Trust and other organisations in the Stratherrick and Foyers area whose work aligns with outcomes in the Community Action Plan. It is a new and very exciting role and we have a goal to match fund the £4 million we will receive into the area from renewable projects in the next five years.
