You know that line, “Behind every cloud there’s a silver lining”?
I think I may have found one connected with the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel carried a story headlined: “Pollution clears during lockdown, possibly saving lives.” The article asserted that over the past few weeks air pollution has dropped by 30% in big cities in the Northeast.
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”

Prayer During an Epidemic
Lord Jesus,
Hear our pleas, our good shepherd and divine physician. We implore your mercy in the wake of an outbreak of serious illness and disease.
Guide our efforts to prevent contagion and make preparations to care for those most vulnerable. Assist all professionals and volunteers who work to eradicate the epidemic now spreading.
May our actions be marked by your steadfast love and selfless service and never by panic or fear. Bestow your comfort and healing to the sick, sustain and strengthen them by your grace.
May they know your closeness as they carry the cross of illness. And may all you have called from this life come to worship you eternally with all the saints as you grant consolation and peace to their mourners.
Amen.
Holy Mary, Health of the Sick, pray for us.
St. Joseph, Hope of the Sick, pray for us.
St. Rocco, protector against epidemics, pray for us.

In 1935, Jesus gave St. Faustina the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, telling her to share this devotion with the whole world. The Chaplet is often offered for the dying, to pray for Christ's mercy upon their souls. It is especially timely that, in these days, we unite in prayer in this way for those dying from COVID-19. Even if you’ve never prayed the Chaplet before, please join us! This intercessory prayer is prayed using an ordinary Rosary, and the text of the Chaplet's prayers will be included in the livestream post to make following along simple. Join us through our Facebook page on Wednesday mornings at 8:30am!

Paycheck Protection Program
St. John the Baptist applied for and received a $258,547.50 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan. The Paycheck Protection Program established by the CARES Act, is administered by the Small Business Administration. The funds will be used to pay up to 8 weeks of payroll costs, including benefits and a limited amount of utility expenses. This loan will be forgiven provided it is used for these designated purposes. We appreciate the assistance provided by BankFirst in expediting our loan application.

We continue to monitor our financial situation closely. It is too early to evaluate the full impact on our financials resulting from a month without in-church services. We will keep you posted once April financials are completed.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support.

St. John the Baptist School is blessed to have a staff who is committed to working alongside every child to support them in our mission of growing in knowledge of the Catholic faith, striving for personal and academic excellence and serving God and others. The staff takes pride in educating the whole child, ensuring that each child receives a well-balanced and varied curriculum which focuses on the whole child, providing them with a solid foundation for their future.
St. John the Baptist School has a strong history of well over 100 years of providing quality education to the Plymouth community. Along with this sense of history, a sense of belonging and familiarity quickly develops. The teachers and children have a strong community spirit and are committed to ensuring the school remains a happy and safe place for learning and growing. Even during these times of uncertainty, the staff remains committed to ensuring that the school follows its mission in providing a faith-centered and enriching education. Your spiritual and monetary support during this time and always is greatly appreciated.

Miraculous Medals
St. John the Baptist is extremely grateful to our parishioners who are front line and essential workers in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic! Earlier this week, we mailed about sixty Medals of the Immaculate Conception to our front line and essential workers.
Popularly called Miraculous Medals, these medals feature a design that the Blessed Mother herself revealed to Saint Catherine Labouré in 1830. If you're a front line or essential worker and haven't yet requested a medal, you are invited to do so here.

"Seal the Doorposts"
Last weekend, we encouraged parishioners to "seal the doorposts" of their homes by posting the Image of Divine Mercy. This practice is a reference to when God commanded the Israelites to “seal the doorposts” with lamb’s blood so that the faithful would be spared, in Exodus 12. Many of our parishioners engaged in this act of faith; photographs of their front doors are featured here!
If you would like to seal your own doorposts,
