In this webinar, the Corona-Norco Adult School Technology Team will share lessons, strategies, and digital resources that have helped their school not just transition to an online setting but grow their collaborative work culture and student resources. The team will highlight the benefits of an intentional focus on teacher support and share the successes found, from the loaning of electronic devices to a culture of innovation at the center of their programs. You will see how distance education is working at CNAS and receive useful tools, templates, and plans that can help you grow distance learning at your school.

CAEP State Priorities Webinar Archives

In March 2021, the CAEP Office introduced the CAEP State Priorities. The California adult education state priorities are aligned with the CCCCO’s Vision for Success goals and CDE’s Adult Education Office State Plan. The state priorities are: Learner Transition, Program Development/Curriculum/Classroom, Equity, Leadership, Technology & Distance Learning, Program Evaluation, and Marketing.
Over the past month, the CAEP Office and CAEP TAP have hosted a series of webinars aligned to the CAEP state priorities to demonstrate the priorities in action and showcase local programs. In case you missed any of the webinars, would like to review again, and/or would like to share with colleagues, below are brief descriptions of what was covered during each webinar and a link to the recordings and resources:
Utilizing SB554 to Enroll Nonresident and Resident HSE and HSD Students in Credit College Courses
(Learner Transition)
The webinar, featuring presenters from Chaffey Adult School and Chaffey College, reviewed elements of the “special admit” designation, E-forms used for enrolling HSD/HSE students in credit courses, onboarding, ed planning, and fee waivers for nonresidents. The webinar also discussed some of the barriers that occur as students move from dual enrollment HSD/HSE to “first-time” or “returning” college students.
Recruitment of Adult Learners During COVID-19

The webinar presented strategies to help participants understand why a new recruitment lens is required during COVID-19. Participants learned 1) a formula to create personas and effective messages that engage adult learners; 2) the best outreach mediums to maximize exposure for programs; and 3) how to tailor a newly launched communications toolkit that is part of the national campaign.
California’s Post-Pandemic Recovery
(Program Development)
In this “deeper dive” webinar, attendees heard reflections on the urgency of this work, learned about several promising practices among California’s adult education consortia and practitioners, and participated in an engaging discussion about the work ahead. The webinar primarily focused on how programs built industry partnerships at the local level. Also, a “peer learning circle” format was used to hear from attendees about what they are learning, what is working, and what questions they have of each other.

Adult Education Pipeline 4.0 and 4.1 Release Announcement
|
|
On April, 26, 2021, the Adult Education Pipeline 4.0 was released. On May 31, 2021, the Adult Education Pipeline released 4.1. The 4.0 release included new features such as drill downs to explore data with more nuance, refined calculation, a new icon, and more. The 4.1 release included a refresh to account for updated calculations, updates to the barriers to employment metric, and three new charts. PPIC: California Remains on Track to Close the Degree Gap
|
|
In the latest blog post, PPIC reflected on a projection from six years ago - there would be a 1.1 million shortage of highly educated workers in California by 2030. PPIC challenged the state to act quickly on closing these gaps by meeting some identified targets. The concerted efforts of policymakers, higher education officials—including staff and faculty—and, of course, students have led to considerable gains. State General Fund allocations for each system have increased substantially since the Great Recession, allowing for higher enrollment and renewed efforts to improve student persistence and completion. Both UC and CSU exceeded PPIC’s original closing-the-gap targets, reducing the degree gap by almost 120,000. Read the blog post for more details. |
