Warmer Days Have Got Us

Craving Some Water Ice!

It's been two years since the last free water ice day and this year Rita's is bringing it back with a little twist - it's a whole week! Starting this Sunday, the first day of spring, Rita's will begin offering those freebies! Now you don't have to worry if you can't make it out on Sunday, or if you're not too thrilled at the idea of waiting in those long lines. Download the Rita's app by March 20 to receive a digital coupon for a free frozen treat that you can redeem over the next week. Click here to visit the Rita's website for complete details!

This week we've got so much to share, and we hope you're able to join us for any/all of the programs we've got lined up.

Have a good weekend - and enjoy that free Rita's!

4. COVID Updates: Things to Remember

MONDAY, MARCH 21

We're excited to resume exercise, line dancing, and congregate meals at each of the centers in full. We've listed some key informational items to consider as we get closer to normal later throughout the rest of the month.

Proof of Vaccination - We have been requiring proof of full vaccination for all employees, volunteers, and visitors. If you haven't already, please be prepared to provide proof of vaccination to your center staff members prior to your first visit to an SCS senior center.

Mask Mandates - SCS is lifting mask mandates for onsite center programs on March 21. Until then, we ask you to properly wear a high-quality mask at your center.

Center members, staff or volunteers may choose to wear masks if they wish, based on their individual circumstances, wishes, and risk tolerance. Please be mindful to not make those who choose to continue wearing a mask feel like the "odd man out." While we will continue to take care that only vaccinated members and guests participate in center programs, some people may want the additional protections afforded by masking.

Thank you, again, for the patience, resolve, and resilience you have demonstrated over the last two years. We are happy to welcome you back to your senior centers, and encourage you to bring your friends.

Philadelphia's COVID-19 quarantine site for people with nowhere else to go is moving out of Center City

After nearly two years, Philadelphia's "COVID hotel" - rooms at a Holiday Inn in Center City, reserved for people with the virus who have nowhere else to quarantine - is closing, health officials say. Philadelphia's Office of Homeless Services will assume responsibility for running the city's quarantine facility from the health department, and move services to a city-owned care home in Holmesburg.

Congratulations to Philly's 2022 James Beard Award Nominees

Four Philly chefs and restaurants are 2022 nominees for the prestigious James Beard Awards — a sign that Philadelphia’s dining scene remains one of the best in the country as the restaurant industry bounces back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
