Pictured above, Sol Lurie was a young boy when the Nazis invaded Lithuania. A survivor of multiple concentration camps, Sol made it to the United States and fell in love with his new country. He eagerly enlisted in the military during the Korean War, but because of language skills developed while imprisoned at Buchenwald, he was sent as a peacekeeper to Germany.
A participant in the JFS Holocaust Survivor Program and Kosher Meals on Wheels, Sol is one of our many role models, an American veteran with an unrelenting spirit and passion for serving his community.
This Giving Tuesday remember our nearly 200 Holocaust Survivors who need homecare, meals, transportation, and more to remain safe and comfortable at home aging in place with dignity.
