December 2024

This holiday season, we’re inviting you to share a truly special gift – the gift of hope.

Student at Hollis T. Dietz Elementary in Crandall ISD

At Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region, we believe that every child deserves a fair chance to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. This holiday season, you can make that happen by supporting essential programs that bring stability, encouragement, and opportunity to our students.

Through your generosity, CIS Dallas offers programs like:

• Mental Health Support: We provide accessible counseling services to help students navigate life’s toughest challenges. $620 provides one series of mental health interventions (eight counseling sessions) to a student in need.

Post-Secondary Success: With supportive mentors, and advocates, student’s learn what opportunities are available after high school. $500 provides one college tour or vocational visit, to a group of CIS students from one campus.

Family Engagement: Our Family Engagement programming offers families the tools they need to keep up and thrive. $85 provides one family engagement session at a CIS Dallas School.

Big Dreams, Big Moves!

Congratulations to Helen, a senior at DeSoto High School, on her acceptance to Howard University, home of the Bisons! 🦬

With the support of her CIS Site Coordinator, Jacqueline, Helen is taking the next big step toward her future. We’re so proud of her hard work and dedication as she embarks on this incredible journey to post-secondary success.

Helen became involved in CIS because of challenges with attendance. Once she got to know her Site Coordinator, she joined a small group called "Freedom to Speak" where a handful of students gather to discuss issues that they might not feel safe discussing with their friends but want a trusted adult to hear. Through this group, Helen has strengthened a family relationship and shared that she feels more confident in making plans for her future.

Nervous about this next chapter of her education, CIS is helping Helen build skills to manage anxiety when it comes to college expectations and campus housing. Having the skills to prioritize her mental health is helping her improve in high school and will be meaningful to her future.

Each year, our team supports hundreds of high school seniors with a solid action plan for life. You can make a difference! Join us in supporting post-secondary success and shaping bright futures.

Would you consider a recurring gift this season? Your monthly contribution will ensure that students have access to life-changing resources throughout the year. Or you can also make a one-time gift in honor of a loved one to brighten their holiday season.
